That ad makes me profoundly sad.  The reference to active service combined with the calendar pages concluding in 1918 with "...so on for a lifetime" gives an uncomfortable suggestion that a lifetime is best measured in weeks, and probably not too far into double digits.

There's a dark thought for a cheery thread...   :(

Thank you Ernst for pointing that aspect out to me...I have therefore removed the post.

Huge sized pen, huge nib, grand(e) model, big old pen, very large nib. I think he believes it's a big pen :lticaptd:

Stringing us along indeed.  I don't understand the string in the picture, or any of it. :lticaptd:

That's just plain weird-- the (erstwhile) contents and cover art are all quite vintage, but the side panel with polyglot description, recycling logo and bar code are all right up-to-date.  Is there a Waterman theme park near Paris no one is telling the rest of us about?

It is now being recycled.

$125.00?  Looks like $50 shipped free to US.  You would have to be much more into Waterman than I am to pay that for a box.

I wonder if it's something like the Chinese-made Matchbox Thunderbirds that appeared in the 1990s... although I have to imagine the TV series would have more anxious fans than a line of ink.

At least it's not all smooth and like-new.  You'd hate to pay so much for it and get it in pristine condition.
