Kansas City Pen Club?

I've read about a pen club in Kansas City but can't find any recent information about it. Is it still meeting? Does anyone have a schedule of the meetings?

I was actually at the Chicago Pen show a few weeks ago and found (from Sherrell Tyree) that they still do meet. They have a very strange schedule. I think it's something like every even numbered month on the second or third Thursday. I may be heading over to the Pen Place on Monday, so if I remember I'll to ask and post it here!

As stated before, anyone in KC I would enjoy meeting to chat pens sometime.

I was at Pen Place yesterday (28 June) and asked about pen clubs. They meet the last Saturday of every even month at Crown Center by the Pen Place around 10am. Just missed the June meetup. Next one is August. I was hoping to find out if someone keeps track of who would like to meetup and was told that Dennis Bowden was the one behind the meetings. He passed away very unexpectedly last December. The meetings still take place but are smaller. I am just getting back into fountain pens but I will be attempting to make it to the meetup.

Just a heads up, I realize this is very late as it is Friday evening before the meet up. There is a 50K run/ marathon/ Kids run running through out the Kansas City downtown area tomorrow, August 27. I just found out about it. They start blocking off roads at 5:30AM and the races start at 6AM and ends at 3PM. Starts and ends around UMKC/Art Museum area Theis Park, goes around the Country Club Plaza, through Westport (I'm screwed), Roanoke Park, Valentine, Crown Center, Downtown, City Market then east. Back west to City Market then south. The longest part is a 50K run. I will try to get there but I was going to take the bus, which won't come close now. It's called The North Face Endurance Challenge and they do have maps and timetables in the Kansas City participant guide PDF. At least they cut off the time people can keep running, but I find it odd that it's a big race and I haven't heard anything on the news. I've never heard of this type of race set up but it may be that the west side of the course will be clear by 9:30AM. Brookside is left out of the fray for this one so it's travel reroutes and hold ups for us "inner city" folks.

I phoned The Pen Place yesterday and found out that there is KC Pen Club and it does meet tomorrow (Saturday 10/27/12) in front of their store! Looking forward to meeting other pen crazy people.

Hey KC folks. Been wondering about any developments in the Kansas City Pen Club? Does it still exist? When does it meet?

 

If it has gone defunct, I would love to get some of us together and resurrect it.

There is still a KC Pen Club. Not sure how organized it is. It will be at The Crown Center shops in front of the Pen Place on Saturday February 23, 2013. I believe it starts at 10:00. I plan to be there. They meet on the 4th Saturday of even numbered months. I usually just ask Blythe, the Pen Goddess , at Pen Place when it is.
