Platinum Preppy Rollerball

I've heard about these, but I'm utterly confused.

1. Where are they available?

2. How do you pull out the nib and insert the rollerball?

Thanks.

I've only been able to find Platinum Preppy Fountain Pens, highlighters and markers. However, Noodler's has a pen called the Nib Creaper that can be bought from gouletpens.com for $15.

The nib and the feed on the Nib Creaper can be removed by simply tugging on it, it is friction fit.

The Platinum Preppy rollerball is only available with 4.5oz. bottles of Noodler's Baystate Blue and Heart of Darkness as far as I know. The nib and feed on the Preppy are friction fit so all you have to do is pull on the nib. You can then insert the rollerball unit into the pen. Nathan Tardiff has a

I received an unmarked Platinum Preppy with an 03 nib and the rollerball tip with a bottle of Noodler's Heart of Darkness. I believe this is a relatively new development so the pen/tip may not be found in older stock.

I have heard that two Preppys with a rollerball tip and a brush tip (and a fountain pen nib?) will be found in newer 4.5 oz bottles of Baystate Blue.

The nib and rollerball tip are friction fit. Just gently pull it out of the body.

That's right, I completely forgot about that. I even watched the video with Nathan about BSB :headsmack:

Apparently my memory sucks, lol.

Actually its a standard preppy with a rollerball, and an additional Kuretake Koi waterbrush. I'm currently waiting on stock for them, so I can pick it up with some Polar brown...

Heh, no worries. Nathan has so many different pens available now that it's hard to keep track of them all.

It looks like the holder for the highlighter tip is the same as the holder for the Noodler's rollerball tip, I wonder if you can just get a Preppy Highlighter and stick a replacement Noodler's rollerball tip in it?

Does anyone have some spare tips and a Preppy Highlighter to try it out?

ETA: I guess the markers look more like what Noodler's uses than highlighters.

Needs the Marker tips, the highlighter tips are too wide.

Excellent.

Now we know that you can go and make a Noodler's rollerball Preppy for about $3.50 any time you like.

I've been using a Preppy sign marker fitted with a Noodler's replacement rollerball tip for a couple of days, works great!

As mentioned, you can make a "Preppy" rollerball. You need a Preppy MARKER (NOT the highlighter) and one of the Noodler's rollerball replacement tips. All you do is pull the felt tip out of the marker and replace it with the Noodler's tip. Everything is simply friction fit and pulls out and pushes in.

Once again, it has to be a Preppy marker and NOT the highlighter. The tips are different sizes, and only the marker is the right size.
