Thanks for a great review. I am a really big fan of Pelikan 4001 Violet, and use it regularly along with Mont Blanc Violet. The Pelikan is more the more vibrant of the two and really sticks out on the written page. On top of that, Swisher Pens (no relation...) is currently selling the 62.5 ml bottle of Pelikan Violet for $6.32 on their site. Now there is no excuse not to try a bottle!!!

Good review....i use this color regularly as I like how it stands out on a page of white paper.

Thank you for the nice review. I enjoy using Pelikan violet.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

For some inexplicable reason Pelikan Inks are fairly cheap in India (imported from Germany) though hard to find. I have been stocking up on different colors and I have to say this is my favorite color at this point of time.

Love it!

I just got a Tropen pen NOS...my first, it looks like it is a 'Scholar' '50's-early '60s, with a gold plated nib. EF. I'd not expected EF. It is between springy and semi-flex.

There was no nib marking on it.

First I soaked it in some water, then 50-50 water and glycerin for a couple of days to make the old cork healthy.

The old nib had micro-corrosion from sitting around for a couple of generations as is normal in vintage pens. Four 15 second sets on the brown paper bag, cured that.

I had dipped Pelikan Violet with some other pen when I first got it. Now it is in the Tropen. Eventually, I'll have to run it through a B, M and F nib across a few scribble sheets of this or that paper.

It is a good ink for the start of the violet-purple inks. A good inexpensive ink. Pelikan makes a number of good regular inks at good prices.

With a EF on a few papers it shades.

Looks nice, thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
