What's the 'wettest' ink

What is the wettest writing ink around?

I am conscious of the fact that this qustion has almost certainly been asked before but I am just getting round to appreciating the differences in 'wetness'in inks and I really need to find a wet, wet, wet ink for a very, very fine nibbed Pelikan P15.

Also does anybody have any experience of using a converter in a P15?

Waterman inks are pretty wet compared to other standard inks like Pelikan, LAMY, Parker...

Any standard converter should fit...

Hello PH,

By far the wettest ink I know is Parker Quink Washable Blue. A save ink that makes every pen writes with a beautifull shade. It's a modest light blue ink that gives my a feeling of wanting to keep on writing all the time. Some people say that it fades very bad. It does fade indeed but not so very bad. Notes form several years ago stil remained readable. Actually the only ink that almost dissapeared in my experience is Pelikan blue.

It's not my very favourite colour but here are two very wet greens (any ol' order):

- Amazon

- Season's Greetings 2008/2009 AKA White Forest.

Very nice.

Noodler's Purple Wampum is just ridiculous. Far too much comes out, the ink takes too long to dry, the pen's line width is increase. By far the most wet I've encountered.

FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown by Noodler's has been the wettest ink I've encountered to date. Viagra for my nibs, making them all write 2x larger :roflmho:

Alas, it was too wet for my writing preferences.

+1 for Private Reserve. For most of my pens, too wet.

I found Noodler's Red-black ridiculously wet, smeared terribly for this lefite and just never seemed to fully dry on the paper. Lots of people seem to comment on Private Reserve being a wet ink, but as a leftie overwriter I can get on fine with any of the ones I've tried, including Tanzanite.

I was recently looking for the best-flowing inks, and the recommendations included PR Tanzanite and Noodler's Eel Blue, also Aurora Black. I've tried the first two, and they do indeed flow well, are pretty wet, and yet well-behaved in other respects. YMMV.

Just about any Noodlers Ink, Zhivago I'll name as an example but I love it. Also any of the Noodelers Eel inks.

Certainly Waterman, Herbin (although some variance reported between different colours), PR Ebony Blue too, Iroshizuku inks (certainly Ku-Jaku).

PR Tanzanite is considered the diuretic of inks in many circles. Also, there is the trick of adding a pinhead sized drop of dish soap (think Dawn..) to the converter of ink to make it "wetter". And, do you know the trick of slipping a thin shim between the tines to increase flow? .05mm is the thickness Richard Binder includes in his nib kit to floss the tines. See his webisite for more info-http://www.richardspens.com/-and type in "flossing" in the search box. Good luck getting the flow up to where you want it.

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

I have filled my recalcitrant EEF P15 with Daimine Midnight and it writes wonderfully!

Thanks for all the recommendations!

Inks are wet because of the surfactant, wetting agent, added to them to make the water flow freer.

AFAIK, the wettest inks available, and they were made this way on purpose, are the ones Noodlers mixed up specially for Swisher Pens.

The reason why they are so wet is that they flow into certain, specified as "pen friendly papers," and there fore leave the surface of the paper smear resistant sooner. They were formulated for the benefit of Left Handed Writers.

One can make any ink as wet as they wish. It becomes unusable very quickly once it crosses a certain level. The process is to get some Kodak Photo Flo solution, dilute it as per Kodak's directions, and then add a drop to the ink and try it out. The quick and dirty way is to use dilute house hold detergent, but it adds other stuff to the mix that may cause effects not wanted.

Yes, this subject has been discussed to death on this forum. The Search function will turn up more information than anyone really wants to know.

YMMV

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
