Hi From Twsbi

Hi I am a fountain pen user, also a pen maker.

I am developing an inexpensive piston ink feeding system FP. This project is actually a discussion result with Taiwan and China fountain pen users, kind of build by users wish list. This is a very interesting project, many ideas are from the web friends, even the red logo mark you are seeing is from these friends.

I have a forum showing the progress of this project, unfortunately it is only in Chinese, but it does have some photos that everybody can understand, hahaha!

In some of those pictures you will see the piston system made by brass then aluminum (weight different reason). But the real basic version these piston parts will be made by plastic, for both cost and weight reason. The aluminum version will be used in higher grade version in the future.

The tooling for plastic parts are in process; this project has been running for about three or four months. All the toolings are scheduled for test end of this month, Oct., expect the plastic packaging box. Early next month we will perform the fountioning test, then debug... Let's cross the finges, if everthing thing goes smooth, it should be ready to go on market within three months.

By the way, the target retail price for this pen is US$35-40/pen. When available, I will sell it on ebay first.

Nice, and the plans really look great. I know I'm not the only one who would jump for a good looking, well priced, piston filler.

Very neat, thank you.

I love the packaging and the comparative shots with the M800&M600.

Do you have any patented innovation in the mechanism that you care to share?

Cheers,

Welcome Twsbi. Interesting pen design. If you use a quality nib I'd think you'd have a winner.

Please let us know when the pen is available.

Enjoy.

On this pen, there is not new patent involved. Most of the mechanism or system available on fountain are long time ago innovation, correct me if I am wrong.

Since we are a self contained pen maker (with full capability to do design through production in house), our major interest is how we can let people come to enjoy the hand writing with the nice and afforable price through shortest channel.

You are right, that's a mature technology for sure. However there are new patents now and then (the Atelier Simoni new piston has two, IIRC).

I was asking because I noted that you were focusing on the piston mechanism, showing how it works etc... and since I like pistons, I was curious, that's all.

Thank you, Andre

Sign me up when they are on flee-bay. I like the looks of a few of them, and would give them a try.

I think I will have a problem with this pen.

Of the renderings you have shown us, I like the black G/T (but you should propose also a S/T version), the clear, the grey and the red (long story made short: all of them).

Choosing the color will be an hell of a problem. Keep them affordable, so we can buy multiple ;)

Hi enricof,

We will start with the clear (demonstrator) version, then move on to other colors, gold trim.... even later on with gold nib (larger in size). But let's do it step by step.

By the way, it seemed you are a camera man (photographer), I am one too. you can see my flickr, though I don't have too much time to take photo recently.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
