  1. Tintenlabor – Dunklegrün/schwarz 1 (Dark Green/ Black 1) Ink review # 182. Tintenlabor (ink lab) is a new Swiss company specializing in Iron gall inks. Disclaimer: David the Inkmeister sent me the inks free of charge, and I only participated in the shipping You can find the inks here: https://tintenlabor.mycommerce.shop/ The website is in German, so you need to use web-browser translation What makes it different from other iron gall inks is that you know the iron content of your ink. Dark Green 1 has 3 gr/l iron content and has high dye content. To keep this review simple, I’ve compared the three Dark Green inks below to the best of my ability. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/378541-introducing-tintenlabor-iron-gall-inks/#comment-4737128 Writing experience with these inks is different, especially for the modern user, who is used to well-lubricated inks. The more I use these inks, the more I cannot get enough of them. I've been filling my pens repeatedly with inks I’ve already finished reviewing. It’s like tasting wine or dark chocolate—Either you're hooked or not. Dark Green 1 is the most user-friendly of the Dark Green series. It had flow issues with Sailor fude de Mannen, yet it worked well with a Chinese fude pen. It needs wet pen and would benefit from soft nibs and well-sealed pens. Colour is a lovely, mysterious, green, grey iron gall ink with the lowest oxidation, depending the amount you put on the paper. Ink also benefits when left in the pen overnight. For some reason the flow regulates itself. Cleaning was effortless with most pens, but a pain with vintage pens (which is a given for most inks, this pink or red ). Please don't use ammonia cleaning solution for Iron gall inks. You can always use Ascorbic acid (lime juice) or diluted vinegar. Though this, I believe, is not necessary for this ink, unless you keep it Chroma: Writing Samples: Photo: Note the last line is wet, before the oxidation process Comparison: Fresh Swatch A month later Water test: Left side (10 seconds under running water, after 24 hours) Note that I named the ink by its iron content. It should read Dark Green 1 and not 3. You can also see how intense the oxidation is when ink is applied liberally with a glass pen. Art Work: Madeleine of Proust Paper Talens Mixed Media pocketbook Aries and the new beginnings Strathmore Leave my mouse out of it! · Pens used: Pilot Kakuno Ef, Lamy (EF/F/M/B/ Stub 1.1), Sailor Mannen, Unic vintage wet noodle. · What I liked: The colour, drawing with it, writing with it. · What I did not like: Flow issues with some pens. · What some might not like: It’s an IG ink. High maintenance. · Writing experience: Loved it. · Pros: Needs the right pen. · Cons: Needs patience. · Shading: Lovely. · Ghosting: Some could be on cheap paper, depending on pen width. · Bleed through: Same as above. · Flow Rate: Wettish. · Lubrication: Slightly below average · Nib Dry-out: Yes. · Start-up: Good on most pens. · Saturation: Gorgeous. · Shading Potential: Excellent · Sheen: No. · Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Did not notice. · Nib Creep / “Crud”: Did not notice. · Staining (pen): Did not notice. · Clogging: Did not notice. · Cleaning: Some pens are easy; vintage pens are time-consuming, unless you use washable blue. · Water resistance: Good. · Availability: 30/ 50 ml bottles. Please don't hesitate to share your experience, writing samples or any other comments. The more the merrier
