I too e-mailed Staples UK and, when they eventually replied, it was to state that the product was not available! :(

I'm a Rhodia-only guy but picked up some of these legal pads at Staples this morning due to a tightened budget and the feedback here at FPN. It ain't Rhodia, but it's VERY friendly for fountain pen use. Can't recommend these enough for everyday use.

Hot Dog! there just happened to be a Staples on the way in and out of San Antonio on Interstate 10, so I talked the wife into letting me stop in real quick on the way out. 8 packages of 100 sheets. The website still refuses to admit they carry this stuff in loose leaf filler paper! Oh well, between this and the spiral bound stuff and the legal pads, I am set on paper for a while. I love this stuff. Hardly anything I own won't bleed with Legal Lapis, yet this cheap, thin stuff manages to stand up to it.

you bought 800 SHEETS!! ive gone 4 months and still didnt use up half on my 200 sheets!

Thanks for the tip! I was also unaware that the bagasse paper was available in loose leaf form. Is the loose leaf filler paper also ruled? Unlined would be wonderful!

Unfortunately, it is ruled.

Now available, as many of you will know, in the UK. I bought some today to see what the fuss is about. First impressions...it turns my (mainly vintage, mainly broad) nibs into something a bit broader and less "sharp". Think I'll only be using it with my mediums....

Even using a wet music nib on it didn't make it bleed through, so I was impressed. I don't like the hand of it so much, but that's personal taste.

That particular staples didnt have the bagasse paper together and it irked me.

Which branch did you get it from, Steve? I'll nip into Canterbury and have a look at the weekend. How is it described in the UK and where is it stacked?

Bought some in the Bedford [uK] branch last week. It wasn't with the rest of the notebooks or the other writing pads - they had a separate display, marked eco-friendly, at the end of one of the aisles.

Its just like everyone else says - writes well but quite thin...

I got mine in North London ( Tottenham) and as ripple says it was separate from other pads, notebooks etc on a display stand of it's own marked Eco-Easy ( it was next to the very few other Eco lines) and (I'm pretty sure...) "Bagasse" featured too. I phoned first, and the assistant had a look around and found it.... A4 and A5 pads and spiral-bound notebooks. Good luck.

I use the bagasse (sugar cane fiber) paper for almost everything now. Even letters. It writes great. It looks good. It's thin and light. It's cheap ($1.99 for two 80 sheet pads at my local staples). And it's seemingly impermeable in terms of bleed through. My pen dropped a big 'ole droplet of blue ink on my pad. It sat there while I went for a tissue, I wiped it off and looked at the back of the sheet. It didn't penetrate through the paper. Amazing!

Not having a staples in norther ireland I'm awaiting it to be avail online (if that ever happens)

if someone could supply the product code on it then i could search for it via code on the web site.

NOT in the UK it isn't! £3.90 for two 80 sheet A4 pads, £2.92 for two 80 sheet A5 pads! Bl**dy typical. Rip off Britain again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
