Got some today: FP friendly, inexpensive, very thin. I would like it much better if it were thicker (bleed thru).

  • 1 month later...

Just picked some up today after a snailmail pal wrote me a letter on it. It's very good stuff. I just tried a little 2 pack of pads to start, but will definitely be getting more.

So I wanted to see what the excitement was all about. Well, now I'm excited. My local Staples carries a full complement of this paper and I picked up a variety. With almost no reported feathering or bleed-through, the only thing I was concerned about was dry time. Sometimes, in my experience, paper like that will leave the ink sitting on top for a long time before drying. The dry time on this paper is surprisingly good. My M1000 medium nib put down a line that did smudge for quite awhile though (using Waterman ink). But my other pens and ink dried up just fine.

Thanks for this post!

Having used this paper for about a month now, what comes to mind is cheap, thin and great with fountain pens. No, it's not in the league of better papers, but just can't be beat for the price. I now no longer have any concern about how much I write, I can use up a composition book in no time and I am only out the price of a cheap beer.

Finally got my pen and this is da=bomb. As far as price goes, this is cheap and good paper. I got a composition book so when I finish the GTC (cheap brand, 50 cents each at the beginning of the school year, i stock up) one that I am working on... I only have like 15 pages left so I should be starting the sugarcane one tomorrow...

I have gone through 5 of the pads and I need to start buying them in more valuable packages than the $2 two packs at my local store. I use them instead of the looseleaf pages because I like that the pads dont have holes because they always get in my way (I use the cornell note taking system).

Great paper!

  • 2 weeks later...

I am reviving this in hopes someone can point out on the Staples website where the loose leaf stuff is located? Is it just their plain loose leaf stuff or something else? I can only find like 3 or 4 types of loose leaf on their website. I don't need a big spiral every time and the legal pads are legal ruled. No Staples in San Angelo, TX, so I have to order it. Thanks in advance for looking.

Yip, no good. I was looking for the loose leaf, not pads or spiralbound notebooks.

Sorry. I should have perused the search results closer.

For those that sign up for the staples ink rewards you get 3 dollars credit per empty ink cartridge turned in, up to 10 per month. For those that like the composition books that means each turned in ink cartridge is a free composition book :happyberet:

Too bad that's only printer cartridges, not fountain pen cartridges... :roflmho:

Hot Dog! there just happened to be a Staples on the way in and out of San Antonio on Interstate 10, so I talked the wife into letting me stop in real quick on the way out. 8 packages of 100 sheets. The website still refuses to admit they carry this stuff in loose leaf filler paper! Oh well, between this and the spiral bound stuff and the legal pads, I am set on paper for a while. I love this stuff. Hardly anything I own won't bleed with Legal Lapis, yet this cheap, thin stuff manages to stand up to it.

I'd also like to add my thanks to FPN for informing me of the Bagasse paper. I picked up a two-pack of the tablets to try it out, and am impressed. Even with a saturated ink, there is minimal-to-no bleed through, no feathering and great shading of the ink (which I like). I'll have to start replacing the notepads at home and work with this - cheap, recycled and FP friendly...can't beat it!

Cheers!

Finally he said, "Well, the hours are good..."

..."So the hours are pretty good then?" [Ford] resumed.

The Vogon stared down at him as sluggish thoughts moiled around in the murky depths.

"Yeah," he said, "but now you come to mention it, most of the actual minutes are pretty lousy."

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
