The latest change in the Admin Team

Admin

Recommended Posts

As it has been an unwritten rule since the beginning of FPN that any Admins can retire from duties whenever they choose to, it is then with much regret that we announce the departure of Maja from the Administration Team.

On behalf of everyone here at FPN, we would like to thank her for all her time and effort that she has put in during her tenure and it is obvious that her presence within the Team has been greatly appreciated by all FPNutters.

However, the bright, silver lining here (well, rhodium plating over 21K Gold ) is that Maja will be replaced by one of our equally respected senior members. We hereby announce the arrival of Gerry as our latest Admin Team member.

A warm welcome to Gerry, please!

Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you, Maja!

And welcome, Gerry!

I now have this image of all of you online at the same time, ceremonial nib-shaped hats on, stoles in various colors (Noodler's, Sheaffer old stock, Penman Sapphire) draped around your collars, having a serious online meeting.

Congradulations Gerry! Isn't it true that the newest admin has to wear the sorting hat till he/she earns their nibs? It talks to you during meetings and is very grumpy.

Gaaaak, nobody said anything 'bout that!

But then again, as Denis has pointed out - some things are best left as post sign-on surprises... <_<

Seriously, I'm really glad to be here, and hope that I can uphold the sterling example set for me by all my predecessors.

I trust the general membership will be tolerant if the sorting hat's grumpiness ever pokes through enough to be visible. :)

Best to all,

Gerry

Thank you, Maja for all that you did as an admin member and all you do as a member of FPN, you are another example of why this board is the high quality place that it is - generous, kind, even-handed.

Fortunately, your "replacement" ;) is of equal quality on all of those so traits. We are very fortunate to have had Maja on the team, and very fortunate now to have Gerry joining them.

Thanks to all of you for your behind the scenes efforts.

Thanks to the membership of this group for making it such a wonderful place to want to be in the first place!

Maja, hate to see you retire...we'll miss your red stole! :) Hope you'll still have time to enjoy the board, and thanks for taking a turn as an admin.

Gerry, no doubt you'll do a good job as an admin with all that helpful knowledge tucked under that sorting hat! Thanks for taking on the job.

Best, Ann

Thank you so much, everyone...and a big CONGRATS to the newest admin, Gerry (and all the other new admins--Karin, NoSnow, Grasshopper---of course :) ). I figure since Gerry is a Canuck too, it was a one-for-one swap

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
