14,000 pens - SPEERBOB is open again!

Hi Everyone, Well after 3+ months I have finally reopened my eBay pen store. I moved from Thailand back to Virginia and had to get my inventory and get settled in before I could reopen. We bought a new house in Ashburn, VA. We're mostly moved in and the 14,000 fountain pens I brought back with me are mostly organized and I'm ready to sell again. So far I just have the store open with 134 items but I'll start running auctions and offering the list good deals again too. I sure have enough inventory to keep me going for a long time. I have a lot of unusual pens you cannot find anywhere else as always. Amazing new, NOS and vintage pens. I think my prices are among the best on eBay for fountain pens. It's just amazing what I have. Please check me out at http://stores.ebay.com/Speerbob and bookmark my store.

It was great seeing so many FPN'ers at the Washington DC Pen Supershow. It was my first show since returning and I hope to make other shows too. Thanks for your past support and I look forward to future dealings.

Welcome Back!

Quick question, I have large hands, which do you think would be the best fit: Reform Piston, Pilot Elite Big Cap, Pilot Scholar or Pilot Enzo Varini?

All suggestions are welcome. Thanks

After telling my wife that I couldn't afford to buy another fountain pen right now (just shelled out over $1300 in car repairs), I just had to get another Penko...

So glad that she does not visit here; she thinks we're all nuts.

I have indeed bookmarked it. I'll probably get something from you in the near future, although I prefer the nibs a bit broader than what most of your stock has.

Glad to see you're back, and now we won't have that odd deal where they sometimes shipped orders through Germany instead of Hong Kong and so delayed everything by weeks! Ah, a definite improvement for those of us who seek to achieve our satisfaction at a more rapid velocity.

Deacon,

I have a Reform Piston, and it is near the size of a Pelikan M200, and a little small in my large hands. I had a Pilot Elite, which I sold because it is too small. I avoided the Enzo Varini, because I have seen those in person, and they are pretty small. The Pilot Scholar is actually tempting me.

I's say the Scholar is your best fit. It's the largest Pilot I have. The other pens you mentioned are pretty much medium to thin. The Scolar is large for a Pilot. cheers, BOB

Yes, Priority mail in 2-3 days should speed things up! Check out the 78G for some larger nibs. 90% of Japanese pens i get are fine or extra fine. the 78G is an exception. cheers, BOB

And now I have the Scholar in both the smooth and guilloche finish! When I bought a bunch from Pilot last time they said they were out of the guilloche finish. But when I got them home two of the boxes were that finish after all. It's very cool. Both finishes are in my store. Cheers, BOB

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
