How Purple Will It Be?

scogre

Recommended Posts

I just picked one up and paid for $182. I went to Art Brown's new store.

I also picked up the Ice Blue in an auction for $188.

Today was a good day.

Feedback: It is a solid matte purple with a matching box similiar to last years design. It is numbered as last years at it is a series of 2008 pens.

I will submit photos tonight when I get home.

Can't one disassemble the VP and paint it any color they wish? After all it is just brass and paint. Maybe Cadillac Fire Frost, or whatever they used to call those spiffy metalics GM was using.

I had a friend who works for a Chevrolet dealer's body shop spray one that I got from ebay a few months back with that blue color that GM is using on everything these days. You know the color if you have seen it.

This color if you haven't

When I received it, the finish was in pretty bad shape. I really like this color and asked my friend if he had any that he could spare. He called me when he had to do some touch-up work on a car that color and did it for me. It is beautiful.

Nice one, Congrats. What nib does it come with?

Medium is the standard for the LE it seems. The Ice blue I purchased yesterday, however, the seller offered a broad nib/converter. I took that it.

Looks like they are only offering it with a medium. From the Namiki site:

The Limited Edition Vanishing Point Purple Pen comes with rhodium accents and an 18-karat gold medium nib coated with rhodium plating.

That's very strange as the nib is the same as in the decimo, fermo and Japanese Kasuri pens which are available in F/M/B. I'll have to go home and see what my other LEs were supplied with (usually the mark the nib it came with on the box but a lot of sellers will substitute for you).

I would love a custom VP. I have a friend that is an Airbrush and Tattoo artist. I will ask him what he can do with the VP?

Oh cute! It came in the same box that the orange VP came in, only in different colors.

Now, if I could just get the LE Orange and Purple colors in a Decimo, I'd be one happy camper. The VP is just a tad too large in my hand to be one of my go-to pens. Sigh.

Blimey, selling in the UK for £197.97 - that's $366 - that's more than I paid for two from Art Brown!

One of the many joys of living in the UK :crybaby: Price fixing just encourages us to buy outside of the UK and once you have had a good deal you keep going back.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
