I believe Richie at Cyberpens in the UK will soon be carrying these, too.

I really like the look of ASO-GAO blue, how does it compare to BSB? Really love a BSB that didn't destroy my sink, hands and potentially my pens.

I like Asa-gao, but it's much ligher and more purple than BSB.

Hmmm. Wonder if I could get it in Australia (now our dollar is so ordinary, can't afford it any where else!)

But Winter General? I don't get it. Is it the color of a uniform?

Anyway, I look forward to their reds.

Asa Gao is a more sober blue than Baystate - it doesn't do that electric-pop-off-the-page thing that Baystate does, is a bit darker and, side-by-side, makes Baystate seem to contain a hint of purple. Nor does Asa Gao have the cyan undertones of some of Private Reserve's blues (e.g. Supershow) - it's just a pure, fairly deep blue (and not as bright as the scans make it look). As far as I'm concerned it looks far preferable to Baystate simply as a colour (leaving aside Baystate's feathering etc.).

But, like the other two Iroshizuku inks I bought, it does look like some other inks. Asa Gao is pretty close to Omas Blue (which is perhaps a bit darker and more saturated) and thus, I suspect, to Visconti Blue as well, while Syo-ro is pretty close to Waterman's Blue Black (the current teal version, that is), only a bit darker. (Tsuki-yo reminds me of other inks too - Noodler's Navy, perhaps? - but I've not done any comparisons there yet.) Beautiful bottles, however....

CORRCTION! I just filled my new Myu90 with Asa-gao, and realized....I was thinking about Aji-sai when I said it is more purple  But it is much lighter than BSB.

Tsuki-yo looks similar to Noodler's/Pendemonium Legal Lapis to me.

Could someone shed dome light on the flow of these inks..........dry/wet ?

I use Asa-gao every day. I do find the flow in my Custom 823 to be quite ordinary, neither remarkably wet nor dry. I do not, however, find the ink to have significant lubricating properties. I feel a tiny but more "tooth" in my 823 than with some wetter inks, like Aurora blue or PR Tanzanite. But still, it is a lovely ink that is currently my blue of choice.

Currently Inked: Visconti Pericle EF : Aurora Black; Pilot VP-F (Gunmetal): X-Feather; Pilot VP-F (LE Orange): Kiowa Pecan; Lamy Safari EF: Legal Lapis

Interesting. I find that Asa-Gao flows at about medium wetness and reduces tooth, at least in the pens I've been using it in (Lamy and Pilot). I've got it in my VP Binder stub and it's exquisite to write with. :D

I think my 823 is a typical (maybe a little dry) writer. I get average flow with the Asa-gao. Very wet with the Aurora. It's hard to generalize, I guess.

Shin-ryoko flows very well for me. Syo-ro flows about average. I find neither to give great lubrication resulting in slightly toothiness. I don't mind this at all.

I find these to colors really nice when wet, but when they dry I think they aren't vibrant. They have quite a bit of shading, but the shading seems flat.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
