Lamy Blue

I did this in print, script, and with a quick sketching, since they all seem to reveal slighltly different line quality. It's been a while since I've written in cursive (7+ years), but it seemed to come back quickly enough. If there is something I should have included/something I left out, or something specific you want tested, I can give it a shot. Likewise, if you have conflicting opinions, please share them. I admit that I'm somewhat limited with my testing materials, and I'd rather not give false information.

This blue seems to dry within a second, though I would attribute that speed partly to the pen (Lamy extra-fine nib). Taking that into account, an intentionally heavy line seemed to dry within 2-3 seconds, and completely within five. I'd still call it quick drying. I didn't notice any feathering and on this particular paper, there was no bleed though.

(edit: I've seperated the two into different threads.)

Thanks for the review. Lamy Blue in cartridges is intented mainly for student use, and in many European countries, that blue is the blue for school and notes for kids. Is quite a popular color, but of course, a light blue, nothing to do with much more saturated inks. Easy erasable, too.

Nice art work :) Thank you.

Thanks for the compliments. I got into fountain pens partly for art, so it seemed appropriate to include some. I just did a quick sketch of the closest thing to me at the time.

If the ink is intended to be that light, I'm not really right to say it's not saturated. That makes a little more sense, and it does seem like a school blue (if that makes sense.)

  • 1 month later...

I've used this ink for several years now. Wrote most of my college notes with it actually (Engineer Major = Reams of paper). I rarely use cartridges though, nearly always with a converter and ink well, and I have to put in that the ink well is one of the best I've seen. It has a depression in the middle so that nib is easily submersible even when little ink is left, and a convenient roll of blotting paper incorporated around the base for cleaning off your nib when finished filling.

It is definitely not waterproof, but I like the way it flows especially with the safaris and it has been trouble-free for me aside from that. I also happen to really like blue...so maybe thats part of it.post-14819-1209923642_thumb.jpg

Nice work! One of my fav. inks. Never tried it from a cart though, I always use the bottle.
