45 days!!!!!! And I thought Aussie Customs is bad (well they are) but here in the UK where I live now I don't think they actually check anything coming in unless it has "TNT" or sticks of dynamite with a huge ticking clock on it with wires poking out everywhere... then I guess they may check it out :P

 

when I lived in London, a surplus store (in the UK) shipped some paint to me in boxes that once held explosives - they still had the diamond-shaped labels on. The DHL/UPS driver wasn't too keen on delivering :rolleyes:

If I was that delivery driver I would have asked to get you to take a photo of him in his uniform next to the boxes with explosive diamond logos in the back of his van :D

 

He could then brag to his mates "look what I had to deliver today... but it was no big deal, was just some TNT" so he can act all tough lol

I just got text messages from UPS and USPS telling me TWO pens are going to arrive tomorrow. I think they are:

  • Pelikan M600 Vibrant Green
  • Conway Stewart 100 Anniversary Edition in Pistachio (all the way from England!)

Another Parker 21; if it's in good shape I plan to give it to a friend; if not I'll make a pass at restoring it and see what happens.

  • Pelikan M600 Vibrant Green
  • Conway Stewart 100 Anniversary Edition in Pistachio (all the way from England!)

I love presents!

The postal service texts you over there to let you know a parcel is coming!!! WOW!!!

I am going to include this in my angry letter to Royal Mail, as here you are lucky if the parcel even arrives at all!

 

Can the USPS consider expanding to cover the UK as well and relieve the Royal Fail from this duty? lol

Yeah, it works pretty well, I get text messages when the packages reach different points, get delivered, etc. One of the packages even came from England thru the Royal Mail, didn't have any problems. It was slow passing through US Customs in NY, but it finally got moving again.

 

Both got delivered today. More on that later.

 

As for the USPS invading England, be careful what you wish for...

Oooh, they're beautiful - especially the Conway Stewart.

 

I'm waiting for a tortoise Retro51 Script Master. Should be here tomorrow. Pleeeease let it be here tomorrow.

 

I'm sending three pens off to LahLahLaw for nibs mods - he's stubbing a Delta, trying to turn an Edison EF nib into a semi-flex stub and - most importantly - doing his Tomahawk stub on a white Nussbaum Phoenix. I'm psyched!

I've gotten all of my Pelikans from John Mottishaw and crew over at nibs.com. I said take a BB and stub it, and that's what I got. I haven't tried it yet, work kept me busy today. But soon...

 

I was not aware that Pelikan had a customization service. Do tell.

I received an email today from Franklin-Christoph that my 02 Smoke and Ice with Masuyama Needlepoint is in the mail. Really looking forward to receiving this pen.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
