A package arrives ...

Wrapped as if from days gone by

Brown paper, masking tape, neat

My soul begins to stir

Unwrapping it, my eyes begin to widen

Touching it, my fingers begin to dance

I take it

Excitement

Bringing it to me

My nose tells me it’s a sunny summer’s day

Transported back in time

I’m suddenly ten

My face is buried in my baseball mit

The Red Sox are playing the Yankees

I’m breathing in the intoxicating sweetness of days gone by

Bliss

I continue breathing it in

As I return from my journey

I’m dancing inside

My Renaissance Art journal is here.

Just received my Renaissance Art Moleskine Journal Cover with a large ruled Moleskine journal. The cover is so cool. Such workmanship. Such a rarity in today's world.

So, now I have this pristine Moleskine, what do I write on the first page? How do I begin? How do I get by that freah new first blank page?

Great poem! I am glad you like your journal cover!

Yes, Ren-Art is great to deal with and have a great turn around time. And the smell . . . incredible.

Here is what I put on the first page of my refillable--

"If I ever go searching for my heart's desire again, I won't search any further then my own backyard because if I don't find it there, I never really lost it to begin with." Dorothy Gale, the Wizard of Oz.

I thought it was appropriate for a journal about my life. Just my two cents!

Exactly what you have described above, to fix the emotions of that moment!

Enjoy with it!

or you could just spill some ink on that first page. That would be fun. I always like to dirty up the first page, it makes me feel like it doesn't have to be filled with first rate stuff that I don't have if you know what I mean.

I got a sampler packet of papers for review from these folks. They were enclosed in an embossed "fold over" bit of of their leather.

It's GOOD leather.

My husband (a vegan) described it as "the kind of leather that makes vegans run for the hills -- to avoid temptation."

The stitching around the edges is also quality work.

Page 1 - Your title page. Hm, I kind of like the ink blot/blob idea!

Page 2 - Your dedication page. Definitely your most excellent poem!!

Scribere est agere.

To write is to act.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
