Nib width denomination by Pilot

Hello community,

 

do you out there know/presume what some of those different (latin letter) nib size abreviations by Pilot/Namiki on their Japanese website mean?

Here is the link to the Pilot Custom 743/742 page, where they offer their greatest choice:

The nib sizes available there:

 

EF・F・FM・M・B・BB・ are obviously well known

 

SF・SFM・SM・ are their Soft- Fine/Fine-Medium/Medium nibs

 

C・ is ?? (I'm not sure) very Broad ?

 

MS・? Music, maybe ?

 

FA・ is Fine Super-Flex (yes they have that choice on their better pens )

 

PO・WA・SU・ ??? Any ideas??

Actually, after some Babelfishing (I could have done earlier ...) of this site

I can answer my own question ... oh my ...

 

Squeezing out the facts from the usually ridiculous Babelfish translations,

 

SU is Stub

 

MS is in fact Music

 

PO is a very stiff and hard fine point, curved slightly downward (seen a fitting photo of a similar kind of nib lately) for carbon copying (what a cruel way of using an fp ...)

 

But WA is still a mystery, because the Babelfish result is :

'The medium letter of the judo pot which makes the nib upward'

- so useless

 

Maybe some enlighted person will lead me to wisdom ...

Yes, C is very broad, broader than BB.

Where did you get that FA from? For the single one available on ebay due soon I cannot spend money on at the moment, but it is good to know a source for later ...

I should have added: 'worth ... for me'. I never tried a superflex, so I cannot tell ...

Maja, I don't know which Browser or OS you are using, but try to set the charakter set (or whatever) to Unicode (in browser and/or OS). Most recent OS's do have some fonts with the Unicode range. I can see the Kanji in both Firefox and IE on WinXP.

Well, maybe some longer time ago, I did install that Japanese language pack, but I'm not sure. Ok , didn't have to care about disk space when I was annoyed by those questionmarks while surfing on Japanese car websites
