Heh.

I should make you wait longer. :P

I have the 1911M with a Music nib, and it's lovely.

It feels like a very big cursive italic.

It's not a daily writer for me - I have small handwriting, and the big nib lays far too much ink for the thin pages of my moleskine to handle - but if I used heavier paper, or larger letters, it would be.

It feels good in my hand, and writes very well.

Okay: I just put through my order at Swishers: a Sailor 1911 Medium Demonstrator Music Nib Pen, my first ever set of noodlers ink: Black, Nightshade and finally ZHIVAGO. Also I found on a calligraphy site this amazing nib: a 5 tined nib which is spaced perfectly for music staves!!!!!! See attached for the nib: http://www.quietfiredesign.com/byhandproducts/Calligraphy/musicnib.jpg

I cannot wait for this to come in I am so exited!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of the input! :D :D :D :D

Will do!: I will also be able to put up some scans too, my scanner is back up and running and I will do a full out demonstration of this wonderful nib! Probably using my new Noodler's Black ink.

Until then. I am almost equally excited about everything: the new ink, the new dip music stave nib, and of course my first sailor/first every specialy nib which will be put to good use as I apply to colleges majoring in music composition!!

Congrats on the new order. I'm especially interested in the Staff Nib you purchased. Would you please post the site that carries this nib. I'd be interested in buying one.

I would be interested if the Sailor music nib is in fact useful for notating music. The big factors from what I understand are the variation in thickness with pressure & direction and sufficient ink flow.

My graduate independent study involves, among other things, learning to notate music in a more beautiful, precise manner than my normal chickenscratch short-hand. Predictably, I'm not having much luck finding the particular osmiroid or pelikan nibs my professor uses for this purpose.

Staff Nib

I will of course post a lengthy review on the nib and show its manuscript purposes as well. Hopefully I should get them on wendsday.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
