Ban Mi Macaron Rose

Ink Review # 242

---

🧾 Description

Ink: Macaron Rose

Brand: Ban Mi

Country: China

Bottle size: 15 ml

Macaron Rose is a pale pink from Ban Mi’s waterproof pastel series. The ink comes in a tiny 15 ml bottle reminiscent of nail polish.

PXL_20260422_091803551_MP.jpg-pre.jpg?to

Despite the hot pink colour in the converter and bottle, the ink is illegible with most nibs.  Lubrication is slightly below average. Cleaning was more or less easy, though I didn’t keep the ink for long in my pens. Because it’s a waterproof ink and uses a pink dye, both notorious clingers, I soaked the feeds in cleaning solution for good measure.

I did not enjoy writing with this ink. At times it felt like writing with invisible ink. However, I’m sure someone might find a use for this colour, for example, writing letters to people they don’t like. :D

 💬 Closing

It’s hard to review an ink when it’s too subtle for its own good.

No fountain pens were harmed in preparing this review. ;)

Please don’t hesitate to share your experience, writing samples, or any other comments — the more the merrier. :)

Hmm.  I would have preferred the hot pink on the page... 😎

Chinese proverb very wise. ;)   I like the change to putting the quote above the page it's on.

Well, the shading is nice, but holy paleness, Batman!  IMO, pale, muted pink is not a good color for ink.  Flowers, sure, but not ink.

The swatches make it look like a near match for Here Kitty Kitty.

Oh dear.  Is that a kitty burger in the water test!? :yikes:  Meanwhile, it aces the water test...

Hmm.  Chef Macaron?  I think I'd prefer Baker Macaroon. :D

Phew!  K-Drama Crash! offers some relief.  That looks like a fun story going on there.  (PS: Both drawings are wonderful!)

Thanks for another fantastic review, @yazeh!

I guess the only way to make this work is add some black ink. Though, personally I prefer Rouille d'ancre. Much better behaved in general. :)

Near match. I think this is less legible. The other one had too much shimmer. :)

t was supposed to be a Macaron. But I know Makhabesh’s love of cheeseburgers has kind of rubbed off on you. :D 🍔

Thanks! I had fun with it. However, one needs a nice contrasting colour to make it work in drawings and washes. :)

@yazeh Definitely NOT an ink for me (even if it's waterproof) because it's so pale I really do NOT understand why companies are coming out with inks that are so illegible on the page these days).  But thanks as usual for the comprehensive review -- and especially the artwork.

They have 12 inks in this shade. I think they might be destined for brush calligraphy, art or flex/ B nibs. Or they might be a novelty thing, because they look

Holy Invisible Ink, Batman!  My eyes!  😱

The only things I liked about this ink:

A. The artwork!  👏🏻

B: Your presentation, @yazeh.

Thanks so much for taking me on these InkVentures with Kitteh and Mousie.  They're so much fun to read.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

They've been quite a rage for sometime. The "bun" is meringue-based. It's quite sweet. Not my thing. ;)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
