Pelikan M200 Marbled Red Special Edition

Tom Kellie

Recommended Posts

~ This afternoon a shipment from Fritz Schimpf in Tübingen, Germany arrived.

It brought to my writing desk a Pelikan M200 Marbled Red Special Edition.

The pen has an IB nib with a Fritz Schimpf Italic Grind.

What a visual surprise! The coloration is understated in a pleasing way.

The subtly marbled barrel has a soft berry juice hue which complements the black cap.

I've exceeded my quota for images in FPN, therefore must apologize for not posting any images.

This is the most low-key marbled M200 I've seen, due to the gently calm red tone.

As ever, the IB nib with a Fritz Schimpf Italic Grind writes smoothly with highly satisfactory feedback.

Had I realized that this model would be so lovely in its understated beauty, I'd not have hesitated even one minute to order it.

What a welcome addition to the writing desk during Easter Week, 2025.

I just did a Google search for that pen -- and wow, it really is pretty!

Nice addition to your collection....

Oh, and for everyone else?  I found this link to Appelboom's website.  Sadly, a bit too rich for my blood at the moment....

If you want to post any more pictures in future, you will need to create image albums in the 'Gallery', and upload your pictures to those.

@LizEF explained how to do it in this ↓ post...

Also, there's a really good visual guide to how to do it which was created by @A Smug Dill
But - typically for me! - I cannot currently find it :headsmack:

We would like to add some further real life photos.

In our opinion the Pelikan M200 Classic Special Edition Red-Marbled pens are really beautiful and should be a permanent offer, not a special edition.

If you got yours, that means Novelli should be shipping mine out soon. I'm glad you're pleased with yours, the photo looks awesome (that Fritzrot looks great, too). I was a bit hesitant to buy just based on Pelikan's advertising photos but Novelli had a good price.

I'll probably delay until next year, and still buy it.

Did that with the Pastel Blue and the Copper-Gold.

The Reality Show is a riveting result of 23% being illiterate, and 60% reading at a 6th grade or lower level.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

great photos tom, alas, spent all my pen money on vintage.  ironically the last of it was spent on a pelikan, and am patiently awaiting its arrival.

Thank you so much!

Throughout the morning and afternoon I've been writing detailed notes using the M200 Marbled Red IB fountain pen.

The reliable fritzrot ink from Fritz Schimpf adds to the overall writing pleasure of using an IB nib.

The Fritz Schimpf Italic Grind on the nib tip affords crisply exact writing which is both smooth and has responsive feedback.

I'd mistakenly hesitated to order the pen because I didn't want an overly showy red on my writing desk.

In reality, it's a subdued red which has the allure of old-fashioned high quality.

Color me a satisfied customer.

Good news! Marco at Novelli emailed me to say my red-marbled set is on it's way. Yippee!

~ The M200 Marbled Red Special Edition IB has been earning a place on the writing desk.

When the model was announced, there was an initial hesitation over having an overly red fountain pen.

As it happens, the more muted red is subtle. It's not at all over-the-top flashy.

Pelikan IB nibs are well-suited to much of my daily writing, hence this pen has practical value.

It's a fountain pen highlight of 2025, bringing quiet color and smooth writing.

I've ordered my marbled brown 200 from Fritz, and my B&M don't have a nib grinder.

Can you give me more info on that grind?

~ @Bo Bo Olson:

The nib grinder who is used by Fritz Schimpf starts with a Pelikan IB nib.

He very slightly smooths it, and adjusts it for crisp strokes and curves.

For me (special request) he ensures that it's not a wet writer as I prefer a moderately dry-writing nib.

The Fritz Schimpf Italic Grinds are especially suited for those who write hours at a time, day after day.

Problem-free, reliable, smooth, yet with a crisp touch...nibs of distinction without being flashy.

Thanks, Tom.

I have a couple CI's (in B, but no IB).

The Lamy Persona and the 146 are large pens, and I do like standard and medium-large/long pens.

I've been looking at that M200 longingly.  But also at the M200 Classic Pastel Blue.... :puddle:

Of course, at the moment I can't really afford EITHER -- especially since the borough property taxes have to get paid before the end of the month to get the discount....

Ooh.  The tax office I think is mostly only open on Wednesday when it's not income tax season.  So that means I should probably run out today so I don't forget about it next week....

My work frequently involves multi-hour writing sessions.

Cursive Italic versions of Pelikan's IB nibs are user-friendly for such drawn-out work sessions.

The IB nib affords enough surface area for nib specialists to craft crisp and smooth Cursive Italic nibs.

While not for everyone, they have been highly satisfactory work tools on the writing desk.

As it happens the Pelikan M200 Classic Pastel Blue on my writing desk is a Pelikan IB nib with a Fritz Schimpf Italic Grind.

Both the M200 Marbled Red and the M200 Pastel Blue are eye-pleasing features of the writing desk.

They're both colorful without being flamboyant. The IB nibs afford prolonged writing at a fast pace.

If the time arrives for purchasing one of them, I hope that you'll enjoy writing with them as much as I have.

Got to get this from up-out of the way to with in reach.qU9eOCi.jpg

Most, not all of my 200's, a 215 and a 250. The 250 and one W. Germany 200's are NOS. 9xXARC4.jpg

Missing the marbled brown, from the picture.DSPqv6F.jpg

Petrol. I've more 200's than I realized.

And perhaps this Senator, will end up in the pen stand until more 200's come in.7lozlMh.jpg or this UHU.AfZ17lM.jpg..like the glue maker and unknown to me, ink maker. That came with the pound of coffee for the Senator, and the ink was lying around their house, so was free. Still unused, by me. I've not been in a school blue mood.
