What happened to Lih-Tah Wong and his (spectacular) Parker75.Com?

I used to buy P-75 nibs and a pen or two from Lih-Tah Wong at Parker75.com. About 2014, he stopped updating his website, which still exists and has great information on the legendary P-75. I assumed that Lih-Tah had retired from fountain pens, and, year-by-year, forgot the site as I no longer checked it. I happened to see a business card for Parker75.COM, in a book I'd been reading quite a while ago. I had used it as a book-mark.

What was the story? I searched the internet and found a video of Lih-Tah in 2020 at, I think, the Detroit Pen Show. I did not notice anything on FPN. Is Lih-Tah still around? Why did he stop selling pens and parts on Parker75.COM?

He’s still on Linked In, so maybe try contacting him through that platform. He spoke about collecting pens at the Detroit Pen Show last year, according to the pen show website- and I see no obituary online.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 22 currently inked pens:

Parker 65 IM, Quink Washable Blue w/Solv-x

Sheaffer Slim Targa IXXF, Sheaffer Peacock Blue

Parker Parkette Jr (‘38), Diamine Kensington Blue/mystery green

Cross Spire F, Cross (Pelikan) Black

MontBlanc 144 IB, MB Midnight Blue w/sky blue holographic mica

So good to hear that he is still alive and kicking.  I'm one of the many that enjoys his website and learned much from it.

Thanks, all. Glad to find out that Lih-Tah is alive and attending pen shows. It was a superb site, and still great for his reference pages. Sad that Lee Chait died.

+ 1. The Parker.75.com is a reference to collectors.

On the subject of his excellent website, is it still working for everyone?

I ask because for some time now I have found that its Reference page, here ↓, no longer displays fully for me :(

https://www.parker75.com/Reference/Parker75_Ref.htm

I have three browsers installed on my laptop, and none of them will now display the contents that should appear in the narrow column on the left side of that page - i.e. the 'directory tree' that is in the 'Contents' tab, or any of the contents underneath the 'Index' tab.

The loss of those things makes the website much less usable for me 😢

So, do those things still display in other folks' browsers? 🤷

I wasn't familiar with the site, so I just plugged the URL into another window.  I had to click on the "Contents" button in the sidebar, but that then got me the different links as a drop down in the sidebar.  The "Index" and "Search" buttons seem to work fine.  (I'm running a fairly old version of Safari, if that helps at all).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I clicked on Reference at the top of the home page, here. https://parker75.com/

That brings up a page with a picture that has the outline of "75", https://parker75.com/Reference/Parker75_Ref.htm

Click on the picture, and you should see a list of topics.

I'm using Chrome right now. Works the same with Firefox.

Thank you for this

It's not as comprehensive as the directory tree was, but it enables me to navigate around the site again

I've installed the updates for all of my browsers, which is what I suspect is causing the 'Contents' directory-tree to fail to display.

I wonder what is in its code that makes 'modern' browsers 'unperson' it....

Glad you can get back to Parker75.com. At first, I tried a different way that took me into oblivion. Then I found this way.

Funny someone mentioned Lih-Tah. Just called him up two weeks ago looking for Parker 75 ballpoints.

He's doing fine, busy with kids and computers, as usual. If you want to see him, Lih-Tah will be a the Chicago Pen Show, May 1-4 this year. He's bringing a nice 75 ballpoint for me. Maybe some cool Parker 75 stuff too for you to look at. You'll find him wearing the Vista Blue Parker 75 shirt, talking fast and wearing glasses. Heck, I can't believe I'm wearing progressives now!

Oh, by the way, I hope you'll like cheese, crackers and some wine after Mario Campa's done with the Scotch tasting on Saturday night, May 3rd.

Mercian, try this link:

https://parker75.com//Reference/whnjs.htm

You should see "Parker 75" below the Contents menu. Click on this and the directory tree should open.
