Does touching the bottom of the ink bottle hurts the nib?

Greetings to all! My ink ran low today, so when I was filling (using a vacuum filling), my nib is touching the glass bottom as I depress the plunger, I do support the pen to counter the downward force, however. Should I worry that this hurts the nib? Or it is fine and nibs are not as fragile as I think? Thank you!

You probably didn't use anymore or as much pressure as you do when you write with the pen. I have at times touched the bottom with no harm done.

There has to be a limit to how hard you smash the nib down....

A common sense touching of the bottom of the ink supply hasn't hurt my pens for many decades.

As with the other questions you have asked, in general, no it does not hurt anything. You have to use a lot of force to damage these things. You tend to over think a lot of daily situations with the fountain pen. I think better take it easy and relax.

If you worry, get something like the Schneider Ceod, Pilot Kakuno, or Hero 616 Medium size (the large one). Use and enjoy and don't worry about damage because you can just get a new one easy if something happens.

If I want to take it easy, I just grab one of these cheaper pens and I just use it and not worry about anything.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.

I doubt that just touching the bottom of the bottle with a nib would cause any harm.  You definitely don't want to jam the pen into the bottle, nor do you want to force the nib against the bottom - especially with a gold nib.  Steel nibs are more forgiving.

Just give me the Parker 51s and nobody needs to get hurt.

If touching the bottom of the bottle damages a pen, I have ruined a whole bunch.   Odd though, they might be ruined but they write as good as they ever did.
