What pen do you carry around with you if it's not a fountain pen? Mine is a Parker Jotter ballpoint. I love my fountain pens, but they don't work well on the paper that is in most pocket-sized notebooks. Speaking of, right now my notebook is a Field Notes one. I'll post about it in the Paraphernalia forum.

For practical reasons, I only use fountain pens in the studio (for sketching).

Modern "GEL" disposables are generally what I end up carrying though, a Sharpie is normally there as well to prevent "washing" issues on some correspondence and payments.  Sharpie Extreme are good too!

A Jotter-style pen with a Schmidt or Schneider refill is pretty nice too!

Give away click ballpoints, some of them are surprisingly ergonomic, they use cheap refills that can be swapped from one to another.

The promotional round Bic and Bic clones can also used to swap refills.

Most have loud colors easy to find in a hurry.

For quick notes, a mechanical pencil.

Clicky gels.  Just bought four packs, from Papermate to Uniball to Bic to NoNami.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Mine's a Sunderland Mk. 1 in green, with a blue-black Ohto ceramic 1.0mm gel refill, strapped to the back of my phone's green case with two green pen loops from Leuchtturn191.

I like green.

I carry a Parker Frontier ballpoint with broad blue or blue-black refill. Or a Montblanc ballpoint. In my backpack I have an Autopoint .046 pencil with a glorious "Wet Noodle" lead from Legendary Lead Company.

I carry a Rotring 600 BP permanently in my backpack. Not the most ergonomic of pens, but it is built like a tank, and it is stylish without being too flashy.

In the last months I am also enjoying Pilot V-sign pens. If they wrote a bit thinner they would be the perfect alternative to my fountain pens.

As well as the FP's. I carry a Bic Cristal 1.6mm (for those occasions when a FP won't do the job).

I first heard of these pens on this forum and bought a few.

The difference between the 1.6mm and the standard Bic Cristal is significant - it's an excellent, reliable writer.

Harder to find and slightly more expensive than the standard Bic - but stll economical enough to lend to strangers and lose on trains.

I carry a red Retro 51 Tornado with a Schmidt Capless 8126 refill in F and an Uni Kuru Toga mechanical pencil (as well as some replacement leads and a piece of artist's chamois for the FPs; and, depending on the pens I'm using, a backup cartridge). I used to favor UniBall Vision Micro disposable rollerballs, and still have some around the house, but I'm trying to reduce the amount of plastic I put in landfills.

Yes, I use "Wet Noodles" in the Autopoints as well.

I carry one of two Leonardo ball point pens or a Pelikan K600 ballpoint mostly. I do have a few other quality ballpoint pens - Mont Blanc, Otto Hutt, Paraphernalia, Parker - that get less frequent use.

LAMY 2000 four color pen.

The 4-color flexibility makes taking notes more enjoyable

I also have/use on occasion, an old -circa 2003 Rotring four color, which has a pencil "refill" rather than a fourth ink color.
