GeHa Cartridge Hacks

From time to time someone will ask about alternatives to difficult to source cartridges for some GeHa models that use cartridges.  I thought it might be useful to start a thread that collects and details successful hacks to make these pens usable without original cartridges.  I will point out that I don’t own any GeHa cartridge pens, so I haven’t tested any of these methods myself, and others appear have had varying success. A number of these hacks are outlined in the following link, along with comments.

The hacks listed include:

Platinum Convertors and cartridges*

Sheaffer Slim cartridges (with the opening slightly widened)

Cross cartridges (that fit Cross Century II pens)

Lamy cartridge ( reversed, with what was the top, pierced to allow ink flow)

Pilot Con 20 convertor (older model reportedly effective)

*I read on pen exchange.de that if using the Platinum convertor, it may be helpful to know that when using the convertor, if you push the convertor’s piston all the way to the bottom when expelling / emptying the convertor, it will hit the pen’s “long ink guide” and push the convertor off, potentially leading to temporary leaking of ink / water. 
 

I also read on pen exchange.de, that if you are able to source original GeHa cartridges, it is important to use the old GeHa made cartridges in older GeHa cartridge pens, rather than the later Pelikan-GeHa made cartridges, which may be problematical.  For pictures of the older cartridges, and for the complete discussion on pen exchange.de, the link to that forum/thread follows.  Use the translate function on your browser if you don’t read German.
