Engraved Parker 51 cap

I've got a Parker 51 with what seems to be a custom engraved cap. Has anyone seen something like this, or does anyone have some idea of what this might be?

This was probably a custom design done by a jeweler. I think these pens were predominantly sold in jewelry stores and this was probably an option at one of the higher end stores.

Sounds likely. Wish I could figure out what it was an engraving of. There's a lot of detail to the carving, and it's doesn't seem to be anyone's initials.

I donno what it is either, but it sure is neat!

edit:

if you look at it and try and read it starting at the jewel (second pic) it kinda looks like initials..

like "H somethin somethin..."

Just give me the Parker 51s and nobody needs to get hurt.

A lot of skill has gone into that cap.

I am seeing the initials A O'D

Unlikely to be a one off with that skill level, perhaps others have something similar

If I had to guess I’d say “ACD”.

I would also say that it is a unique piece done by a jeweler.

Yes, it's a pretty skilled and detailed engraving. Unusual on a pen, perhaps.

Here are better close-ups. One is a flipped version of the other, since it's hard to know which way is up. (Could even be in a vertical orientation.)

You might be able to see the engraving a little better by covering the cap with thin paper, we call it tracing paper but I am not sure if that is a US term, try and take an impression using charcoal rubbed over the paper or a soft pencil, at least 2B.

I am seeing GST on the inverted cap

The pen cap doesn't look to have seen a lot of use

Yes, it doesn't seem to have much use on it. If it were indeed a monogrammed gift, the recipient may have chosen not to use it much.
