Half-priced Platinum fountain pens I spotted in Dymocks's George Street store yesterday

I haven't seen too much worthwhile offered at half-price or better in Dymocks on George Street in Sydney CBD for the past three months (when I bothered to drop in to have a browse at its Pen Bar), but today I spotted these (most likely single unit only) offers:

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Very pretty. You Sydneysiders have all the fun! I know, old news. Sigh.

Will work for pens...

@AmandaW If you want that Procyon with the cranes, I can see whether it's still there and (if so) pick it up on your behalf, on my way home from a run later this arvo. The other two pens have M nibs, which I don't think would be your thing.

Please do. Thankyou. I don’t have a Procyon, and don’t think I have even seen one in person, perhaps this is it... certainly is pretty.

More difficult if you live in Japan.

If you buy a pen for someone and get the money via Paypal, you most probably have to report it to the tax office. You have a tax-free amount of "income" which is so low that you are easily over it as your non-national pension, your interest on saved money all goes into this amount, etc.

It is a pain (you know where).

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      >Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color,<   I'm sure they were, and my answer assumes that. It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
