Skyline Clip - Into the Derby?

NickJC

Recommended Posts

I literally have searched hi and lo - I cannot find one reference...

All black skyline, with gold accents...  the clip does not wrap over the top of the derby to the otherside...in loops up and descends into the top, of the derby and is secured in thw cap top

Looking at it, I do not think it is a homemade project.  The bends look good, the entry looks good.

But I can find no reference of this being done....

Maybe my 'google-fu' is lacking !  😀

With photos, it will be easy to give you opinions from the members of FPN. I understand that they were some low end Skylines that had the clip mentioned.

You are possibly looking at an Eversharp 'no name' pen, such as the one pictured here: https://www.peytonstreetpens.com/eversharp-streamliner-fountain-pen-black-nos-medium-flex-nib-very-nice-restored.html

This pen is not really a Streamliner, but an unnamed economy model from around 1942.

The Eversharp "Streamliner" is basically a Skyline with a less elaborated clip:

Did that search, it's not that pen.

This appears to be a homemade project. This pen has a "half over the top" clip because the part of the clip that hooks onto the washer ring is broken off. The cap dome is rotated 180°, the vertical recess of the dome normally sits on the short side of the intact clip (where the clip hooks onto the washer) but now it is rotated and the remaining part of the clip is pushed into the recess of the cap dome.

Well that is surely different !

Whoever did it seems to have done it pretty well....it's rock solid...

The bend at the clip, looks great and not 'Rube Goldberg' at all...

All in all worth it, the nib writes like a dream..

Thanks for the insight !
