Jacques Herbin – (Vert) Métropolitain (Couleurs de Paris)

This is the 4th of the new Jacques Herbin inks, Colors of Paris, in J Herbin packaging.

The ink bottle or on the Herbin website I don't see "Vert"=Green mentionned and to add to the confusion it's named Métro Parisien

You can find the other three here:

Jacques Herbin - rue de la Verrerie

Jacques Herbin - Moulin Rouge

Jacques Herbin – Tour Eiffel/ Brun Eiffel (Couleurs de Paris)

Named after the Paris Métro (subway/underground), the colour evokes the the Art Noveau entrances of the Paris Métro.

This is an unusual ink, the wetter the pen the darker becomes. It has a teals element, much like a mallard and  a monster shader. I could even discern shading on copy paper, and while reverse writing an Ef nib.  :)

It's one of those inks, that the writing experience is so pleasant (read lubrication :D ) that you just want to use your pen over and over again.

If you like shading, miss Paris, it’s crowded métro, enjoy art nouveau or want to travel without breaking the bank, this ink might be for you.  ;)

Nice! Not exactly my type of green but still reminiscent of Herb's Diabolo Menthe (which is, yes, slightly bluer) but better yet N's long-gone Banknote Green!

Same here, I kind o like it. I even refilled my pen twice, to enjoy whatever was left of my sample longer ;)

I DO like this minty color!  And its oddball chroma.  And your quotes.

You cannot say this ink is water resistent but you can make out what the image was, rather than it being washed away.

I also have many of your comparison swatch inks: Vert Empire, FC Black Forest, Noodlers BAAAD Green Gator (which is baaaad!).

Mousie and Kitteh on the Metro: priceless.  @yazeh, you are tempting me with this one.  Will I cave?

Thanks so much, and I eagerly await the next in this JH Paris series.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Same here. The moment I wrote with it in my notebook, I said oh, oh, that looks like trouble :D

It's really fun for doing washes :)

The last one is Les Toit de Paris, or Paris rooftops. Hopefully, I'll post it this weekend in the middle of Inktober :D

Yes! The minty color. Is it scented? 😳😵‍💫

And oh, almost forgot, very nice review. You have created a style!

Thank you, @yazeh! :)  Your review is thoroughly enjoyable, even though this green isn't murky enough for me. ;)  I appreciate the continuing tour of Paris to give us context.  Parts of the chroma are almost neon!  And as you say, the shading is gorgeous.  Apt and fun quotes.  From the swatches, this is a near match for Bad Green Gator!  Giant kitty atop metro train. :D  Our mousey friend must have arrived just after the metro station got drenched. What timing! ;)

But I love your strangers on a metro train, and even more, your kitty and mouse atop a metro sign post!  The perfect ending for your review. :D  It makes me think of those "hidden object" games.

The shading is very tempting. It resembles bad green but boy the couldn't be more different :) Mousey always comes prepared, @InesF wouldn't be very happy :D

I sort of like both drawing too. It's sort of a romantic way of reminiscing. In reality the métro I remember wasn't really fun, especially during the rush hours ;)

If it were it'd have to be scented as the pissy smell of Paris metro stations 😂

Colour-wise it indeed is the colour of Paris metro, but it reminds me too much of the stench...

I try to focus on the the art nouveau stations, i.e., if there are no angry demonstraters 😄

Great review, as usual, @yazeh.  I think you outdid yourself with the artworks this time.  This one is tempting...

Sometimes we choose the second best colour for our fountain pen if the writing experience is the best.

Thank you, @yazeh, for this ink review, for the never ending stream of Paris related quotes, for keeping mouse safe from the water test* and for your well done and funny artwork!  Staring at them, you may get lost in the Paris-sign and find yourself among strangers!

As many others already mentioned, the green is maybe interesting or maybe not of so exciting brilliance, but it's good to know that the ink is well behaving. As already seen on some other of your writing samples, I like the appearance of this green best on Rhodia and Hammermill - yes, as different as they seem to be there colour-wise.

Thanks again for the entertainment factor in your reviews, looking forward to the "Rest of Paris". ;) :)

*) thank you for your attention and care in this review aspect! Equality doesn't show in the single event, it's more towards the mean (or median?). Looking forward to future water test results!

One life!

The one left is Les toits de Paris (Paris rooftops) It's the blue version of Diamine Celadon Cat. These two inks have been proven challenging to review. They both failed in the writing experience department. So I need to give them some extra time and see if they can redeem themselves.

Not a color for me (a bit too blue leaning a green for my taste).  But thanks as usual for the comprehensive review (and I LOVED the "Kitty and Mouse on the Metro").

I was surprised when I liked it. It was a combination of factors, but would I buy it, that's the question ☺️

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
