Ebonite Pen grip section absorbing ink (Ranga 9B Matte Finish)

Hey guys,

I have recently purchased a Ranga model 9B eyedropper ebonite pen in matte finish.

However, there is a problem with it that I noticed as soon as I inked it up. The ink starts to climb from the feed into the step down where the the grip section ends and the feed starts. Then it climbs the grip section and, as time goes by, climbs higher and higher.

As you can see from the photos (which are 3/4 days after inking the pen), the ink has been absorbed by most of the grip section and has created mold... 

How can I stop the ink from climbing the grip section? I imagine polished ebonite eydroppers don't have this problem as I am unable to find this issue anywhere.

P.S. I also wanted to share this experience for all who might be wondering about purchasing an ebonite eyedropper in matte finish to know about this problem and choose carefully.

The section likely stained because you dipped it in the ink bottle while refilling your pen. The alternative is to directly fill the converter with ink instead of dipping the section. And yes, the matte finished sections do get easily stained and then retain the stain. That's why though I like matte finished pens, I prefer glossy section on them.

Unfortunately that's not the case here, as it is an eyedropper I have never needed to dip it into ink. I think the solution here would be to try and waterproof the grip section so that it doesn't absorb ink but I'm not sure if that can be done.

Not sure how I missed the eyedropper part earlier ☺️ I primarily use eyedroppers only, but I don't think I have any matte section one left now. Still this looks too bad. Maybe communicate with Ranga once, they should offer a proper solution for it.

nowadays i tend to get a polished sections for custom made matte pens (from Ranga, for eg), not because of OP's problem but because of ink stains.

Having said this, I do have a few matte ebonite sections, I have never seen this problem before. If Ranga don't supply a replacement, I would cover the threading with silicon grease and check if this happens again, if it does then get the section polished.
