Identification help

Recommended Posts

This pen was recently acquired by a friend of mine, and he asked me to identify the model, but I'm stumped. My closest match would be a 222, but there are too many things that seem suspicious about this pen...

It's a button filler.
The #2 nib matches one I've seen on a 242.
The engraving on the clip looks like a bad copy to me.
The cap's imprint looks fine, but there are no imprints on the barrel or blind cap.
The star on the finial is missing

My guess is that this is the result of a 1930s MB (maybe a 222?) that has undergone some serious repairs once-upon-a-time. However, any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers
