large.IMG_2942.jpeg.3f7956c74edf360b562a625204025d5a.jpegI have a mark 2 Parker 21. The nib and feed are firmly stuck in the hood. The hood has unscrewed off the connector.

What’s the best way to remove the nib and feed from the hood?

all help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello hari 317, I believe that a few more hours of immersion in water and a drop of detergent is enough to release the set.
I've come across some cases of severe shrinkage in the 21, it doesn't seem to be the case with your shell. Even so, look for micro-cracks around the shell, they are often noticeable when running your fingernail over the plastic.
If there are cracks there is a high chance of it breaking, try a little dry heat to soften the shell.

Remember that at 21 the main work is patience, patience and more patience, they are very fragile.

Thank you. The hood is soaking as I type.

I am using a knockout punch to push the feed (by hand)from the wider open end of the hood. Or would it be better to push the feed in from the narrow end to free it?

Update: I finally used a knockout block to tap the feed out as hand pressure on the punch was just not enough. . I discovered that the nib was wedded to the shell which was preventing its movement and I had a tough time separating it. One good thing I discovered is that octanium nibs are fault tolerant and can be reshaped on a nib block much like gold nibs. large.IMG_2944.jpeg.5ace1d034eb410c151e9801095616b24.jpeg

Nice job.

Due to the fragility of the plastic, I have resisted the temptation to pull one of these apart. Thankfully, I haven’t yet had the need or desire to do that.
