FYI. I keep getting logged out even though I check to remember me. Must not be very memorable ;).

Thank for all the hard work!

  Rick

That is a deliberate action from our side, to make sure that no one stays logged in while we are making backups pf the database.

The chance of corrupting a database is a lot smaller that way, and considering the amount of time it takes to fix a corrupted database, or some kind of rollback to an older backup, I can assure you that it only is a minor inconvenience.

In one particular case it took about a month to get back online again, in other cases between one and two weeks, so we prefer to minimize the risks. Hope you don't mind too much.

Warm regards, WIm

Oh I remember all too well when the site was down a few years ago, due to that DDOS attack....

😄

That was what, 10 years ago? We were still with a different hosting provider back then. It took me a week to convince them we had a problem ....

Thank you for all the hard work to keep this most wonderful site going.

When it happened, Pharmacist (? the guy in IIRC Belgium who was the one first playing around with IG inks in other colors) emailed to see if I knew what was going on.

He hasn't been on in a long time.  I hope he's okay.

I have encountered an issue that seems to coincide with the upgrade.   It seems that the "ignore user" feature has stopped working and is no longer filtering out the undesirable individuals from my feed.

I would be happy to provide examples to the admins privately, if needed.

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Could you try again please?

I noticed a setting somehow changed, indeed, it appears to have a new default.

I reset it, so should be fixed now.

OK. I just went through all member groups, to make sure that all was set up correctly, and cleared caches thereafter.

I only checked the Gold Member group before.

You may have to clear your browser cache, history etc. as well, and check again, if you don't mind too much.

If it still doesn't work as expected, it means the new version introduced a bug.

That's great, thank you!

Looks like it required the caches to be cleared as well.

The ignore feature never stopped working for me over the past month in spite of the software upgrade.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
