Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The color looks black - at first. It's a stealthy super dark purple.  I think it is well named.

Great! Amber, good to hear from you. Hope you are doing better and better -- everyday!!!

This ink looks good, too, because it is in fact, yes, my absolutely very most favorite color. Like I tried to demonstrate about 13 years ago with my own mix. The Witch is a good comp: just like Eclipse. Thusly your fine photography of the weird corn (which I also love, gastronomically speaking). Keep up the good work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amber, great to see you do these again. And wow, that's a nice dark purple... as @lapissaid, maybe comparable to Ebony purple, which I happily have a bottle of, and just last week filled a pen with? (my Asa Athlete, in brown ebonite).

a fountain pen is physics in action... Proud member of the SuperPinks

I have more pages to scan and upload. It is a nice wet ink.  I know it is a limited edition.  You had to buy it with Agave which I will review next.  Right now the two bottle set is Tortillas and Chipolte.

Should look very nice in Safari Dark Lilac.

Thank you for the review!

Interesting color.  Wondering now how it would look coming out of the music nib on the 1911S Wicked Witch....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thank you @amberleadavis! This is a colour I would like quite a bit.

Fortunately, it is out of my comfort order range (whatever that is). ;)

I was on Dromgooles psych the other day and saw that sailor has another color which is really darn similar. I think I will add it to my next order and do a comparison of purple blacks. Though I will finish this review.

I think I can make that happen. Though it won't happen soon.

Okay, now for those of you who love Ink of the Witch (and I'm one). I tried using a q-tip to do comparisons. I tried @lapis' method of using an eyedropper to get the same amount of ink coverage. I don't know if I were successful.

I found the colors to be nearly identical, except in the swabs, Blue Corn was less saturated.

However, when I did water washes, the color looked the same.

I was going to ink my Ink of the Witch pen with the Ink of the Witch ink, but I already had a black Sailor cartridge installed so I didn't do it. BUT once the pen is empty, I'll make it happen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
