Several online luxury watch retailers are offering Visconti pens on sale. Most notably JomaShop and WorldofWatches.

The embedded links send you directly to the relevant search results.

Caveat: nib material is not specified and its probably steel or chromium in some cases.

No affiliation whatsoever.

Are those two shops connected? They seem to be carrying exactly the same models of pens, although for slightly different prices. I assume at least some of these are NOS discontinued models, but that's just my guess.

I took the plunge at WorldofWatches, after checking out the price compared to other places where the pen is available, and compared to the original full price and likely discounted online price. They did not charge tax, and there is free shipping available (which I took because I'm not in a hurry). That's my February pen for this year, and theoretically 7 weeks before I can buy another pen, on this year's austerity plan.

Not as far as I know. They are direct competitors. The similarity is not particularly unusual. My guess is that the US distributor (Coles of London) had excess stock of these pens and sold them in bulk. 25c to the dollar is the usual rate. Thus similar pens on offer at similar prices.

Jomashop is cheap but they can be slow and poor communication. Just be prepared to wait.

I guess I got lucky, it's arriving today, three days after purchase.

Which pen did you go for, if I may ask?

You may, it is the Opera Silver Dust with a Broad nib.

Good choice. That was the stand-out pen on offer, imo.

Well, it has arrived. It has the Smartouch nib, which I presume is original on this pen (it came in the box with a label that says "tubular B") although I didn't know it at the time I ordered it. I'm surprised they were selling a pen with essentially a steel nib for $1095, and I'm not surprised that it is being remaindered. I've read some of the usual conflicting reviews on here about this Visconti nib, but it seems in decent enough nick, so I'm going to try it with open mind.

I shouldn't think they'll sell very many at $700 though.
