Anyone write with Cross Anniversary 150 years or the Tennis pen?

I write or wrote with almost all my FP acquisitions of the last 14 years.  Two exceptions are my 150th Anniversary edition, and the Tennis.  They both appear to be seriously well made for writing.  i love my Townsend#, Pinnacles, Verves, and a Peerless.

Anyone have experience writing with these two?

Cheers,

One of my favorite ballpens is the 150th anniversary model. The heft and grippiness of the sterling silver make it a joy to use on a near daily basis. Loaded with a broad tip refill (old stock USA).

I don't have either, but I'd gladly write with them and tell you what I think about them. Should I DM you with my adress?

Thanks for the offer. It’s been almost a year since I’ve posted. I guess there aren’t that many Cross users on FPN these days.

Or maybe I’m not the only person who keeps these as safe queens.

Cheers,

I have the 150th Anniversary FP and I use it in regular rotation. It is quite a lovely pen to write with. The packaging is hard to beat as well.

Last April I bought a 175th Anniversary model.  I have several Cross FP's and they are in regular rotation.  All are excellent writers.

Sorry, haven't seen this thread before now.

I have a Verve (glad I only paid a buck for it -- I keep meaning to try it again to see if I can teach myself to hold it high enough on the section to NOT get ink on my fingers).  And a couple of Cross Solos (which I like a LOT -- I really want to get a couple more of the colors).  And just recently acquired an Adventura, which I'm still getting a bit used to (it's very fussy about writing if it accidentally gets rotated in my hand the slightest amount).  The pen was basically in trade for a pen that turned out to be a "parts" pen, but then I had to pay $20 for a converter that would fit it.  It's an attractive pen, though.  I've currently got a fill of Robert Oster Frankly Walnut (exclusive to Federalist Pens) in it.

I had a Cross Century 150th that was a 20th birthday gift. It was one of my college pens, and I had it until it got misplaced in a move in 2009. I miss it still. I recently bought a 10k Century with a 14k F nib, several Century II, and a Wanderlust. They are all very good pens, but not quite what my original one was like. One day….

Top 5 of 23 currently inked pens:

Namiki Origami Tradition maki-e Penguin F, Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku

Sailor X Sakazaki Penguin Pro Gear Slim MF, Sailor Manyo Konagi

Lamy 2000 EF, Diamine Purple Bow

Platinum Hibiscus SF short-long, Platinum Green

Indigo Bronze TWSBI Eco 1.1 Stub, De Atramentis Columbia Blue-Copper

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

The Verve is of the very few modern pens that I wish I hadn't sold.

The Cross Verve that I owned had a broad Namiki nib, fabulous nib, put out more ink than a squid near a Japanese restaurant but it was a wonderful pen to use.

Big design problems with a dodgy clip and a cap that worked loose but some things you just live with.

Bought in 2006 for $60, sold for $90, the are now 3X that price.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
