MUJI Planted Tree Paper, punched B6-size 6mm-ruled loose sheets

The current version — or at least the new retail packaging — of the Indonesian-made MUJI Planted Tree Paper notebooks, which I've complained about (and got MUJI to refund the purchase price of the summarily rejected goods),

However, I decided to give this other MUJI Planted Tree Paper product (Japanese Article Number 4550002571153) which the label states is “bleed proof”, a fair go all the same. A$3.95 for 200 sheets would be pretty decent, if the paper is fountain pen-friendly, or at least can take a wet line or splotch of fountain pen ink and actually resist bleed-through somehow (even if there may be feathering, show-through, etc.).

 

 

 

 

 

The whole pack is going back to MUJI tomorrow for refund.

 

(Disclosure: Yes, the inks used and shown here were selected from those that have proven to bleed-through on an earlier test sheet. I had to be selective in picking just a handful of them, because I also wrote the same on a sheet of Rhodia DotPad 80g/m² paper, just so I can show the MUJI staff an example of “bleed proof”, and prove that those inks are specially formulated to bleed through every type of paper they encounter.)

I just bought their new 3 pack composition type planting notebooks in letter size. I was at the Hudson Yards location and liked them but they were heavy to carry around with me. Ordered them online and waiting for them to arrive. Reasonable price but sought off steep shipping and delays expected.

Muji quality is so inconsistent. I've given up on their paper now.

I'm pretty sure these are still available and still good:

 

but, as with inks and pens, one cannot draw blanket conclusions across one category of products of a brand when it comes to paper. Even different Rhodia paper products perform differently when written/drawn on with fountain pens.

 

My problem with MUJI is that the company has no plausible reason for calling this specific product “bleed-proof” (or, as with the other one, “anti-bleed-through”). It simply cannot have properly tested this paper for the particular quality, so why make it a selling point on the product's label, when other MUJI paper products not stated as “bleed-proof” actually perform far better in that regard?

Yikes ! 
i just bought 3 packs of this ,

and stitched them into a planner for 2023 

without testing FP inks on them .

(not that i will be using FPs on them)

but they do take FRIXION inks flawlessly.
