Hello from Tennessee. I've been using fountain pens since the late 90's when I began this journey with a Waterman Phileas. I write quite a bit for work and love using nice pens to put my initial thoughts down and write outlines before heading to a typewriter or computer. I'd love to write everything out by hand, but my handwriting is horrible as my brain gets way ahead of my hand, but I writing outlines. I don't have a huge collection, but I have a few Parker fountain pens (vintage and new), Waterman, Pelikan, and Montblanc that I use often. I really like sets and try to get a fountain pen, ballpoint or rollerball, and pencil of each line that I have. So far I've done that with my Parker 51's, Parker Jotters (cheap, but I love them...), and Montblanc Meisterstuck's. The Pelikan line is next and I'll be trying to get all 3 in the Pelikan M400 line.

You and I have that whole write-before-type thing in common. I love using fountain pens (with colourful inks best of all) to get my thoughts out. It just makes it more fun. Is your Montblanc new or vintage? I hear they have a great calligraphy nib in the modern line, but have found so few examples.

Just logged on to FPN for the first time in a while, so sorry for not speaking up sooner. There are a few fountain pen groups in Tennessee, the Middle TN Fountain Pen Club and Fountain Pen Users of East Tennessee. (Both are on Facebook.) There is at least one more, but I do not know the name of it.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
