Pilot L100 V

Good  morning.  I'm new to the forum and have a question about the above pen..I recently purchased it used and it came with a standard pilot cartridge. The cartridge doesn't seem to fit because the male and female connection are not compatible to my eye.  I did try a new converter of Pilots, the squeeze model and the pen worked but it was a real tight fit.  there appears to be very slight leakage when I open the pen but not significant.  The pen has a gold nib and writes very well.

Is there a different cartridge or converter that works with this pen?  Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the Fountain Pen Network!

That model uses "double spares" cartridges or a CON-W converter. They can be difficult to find - perhaps keep an eye on ebay. You can also send the pen to Pilot repair to get the CON-W. I am not clear why Pilot requires this and doesn't sell the CON-W through retail channels but that's the way they do it. Also, I think there's a post here about converting another company's cartridge to work - try a search and let me know if you can't find it.

This system was used by Pilot for a few years on a handful of models.

It's probably not a good idea to force a standard cartridge or converter - the force might eventually crack the section.

The dart-shaped nibs on that model can be very nice, IMO.

Are you saying this double spare cartridge and converter can only be installed thru Pilot.  What does a double cartridge look like?

I'm using this pen for drawing and as old as it is, it still performs beautifully. I have watermans  inspiration blue in it and its really nice.  I think the pen only cost $16. with shipping because it had a spot on the body.

The cartridges and converter can be put in and removed by the user, exactly like any cartridge or converter. Pilot requires that the pen be sent in to their repair in order to get that converter.

The cartridges are no longer available.

Also, if one will fit inside the barrel, a standard Sailor cartridge (previously pierced in a Sailor pen) seals adequately on the double spare feed.

It works best if the flap of plastic that originally sealed the cartridge is removed from the mouth of the cartridge.

Pictures would really help here too, as there are several models that have similar model numbers before and after the switch from "double spares" to the now standard "single spare" Pilot carts.

David-

So many restoration projects...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
