Simple but definitely useful for cleaning the X1, though the traditional buld syringe has been working fine.

Ahh, just looked at the picture again and see that in addition to the "Pilot" size they do seem to have an international size.

I saw a post somewhere which showed a clever ruse which might get around this problem. The poster had cut off the back end of an old, used up, international cartridge and plugged that firmly into the nib unit and then plugged a bulb syringe into the cut off, open end of the old empty cartridge. By doing that, they were able to pump water through the nib unit. I think this would certainly work with an ordinary piston type syringe as well, and they are extremely cheap and readily available on the auction site.

 

If you want to do this, best make sure there is no ball bearing left inside the cartridge. Lots of ink cartridges have a tiny ball bearing in them, probably there to stop lots of ink leaving the cartridge in certain condition - aviation possibly. Just shake the ball bearing out of the cut off end, if your cartridge has one inside.
