What fun! I feel like I have a color buzz now.

Of this set my clear favorite is Montblanc Midnight Blue - my tastes are not mainstream, however. Also, while I'm not big on black, Diamine Onyx is intriguing. And, as reds go, the Sheaffer is quite nice.

Thanks!

That Lamy Azurite has caught my eye.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

A question- how much time passed between the MB midnight blue hitting the paper, and the taking of the photo? I have found it tends to grey a lot over time, for a non-IG ink.

Thank you, this was wonderful.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

This ink it's a must for me. The quality is outstanding and I used it as one of my darkest color. The flow and characteristics of this ink are great.

Nice inky panorama. Good luck with cleaning Sheaffer red from your pen, it takes eternally ;)

Missed this thread before now.  I'm really surprised by the sheen on some of these inks -- I've NEVER gotten sheen out of either Yama-bud or Kon-peki!  :wallbash:

And of course now I SERIOUSLY want KWZI Sheen Machine....

Very interesting to see! Thanks. Which are your favourites of the new ones you have posted?

Sorry for the late reply! I think Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue is my top blue ink. Great ink.

Is it me, or does Taccia Ruri seem to have even more sheen than PR Supershow Blue with a similar hue of blue?

BTW, thanks for such a useful and wonderful post.

Yes, you are right. And Taccia inks comes in quite beautiful bottles. Private ones are more practical but basic.

i think you mean the box, which is gorgeously decorated with an illustration from the author that inspired the ink.

At least, me (and I only speak for me), I do find the bottle uninspiringly boring.

BTW, I'm a big fan of Hiroshige and Hokusai having books with illustration collections from both (flowers, Edo, Fuji..). It is them that finally decided me to retake drawing after 25 years (I was a pretty fluent way back then, so much that I preferred sketching over taking pictures, but then free time magically disappeared...).

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
