I'm waiting for @Tom Kellie to finish testing every ink known to @amberleadavis in his Fritz-Schimpf No. 3 special Edition before I fill mine. He is saving me from lots of trial and error. By my calculations, he should be done in a few weeks. I can wait that long, I think.

@Tom Kellie, please keep up the good work. School probably starts next month, so I guess that you'll run out of inks about then.

@Fritz Schimpf I am enjoying my pen.

@Tom Kellie I love your work, did you find an ink that didn't work well in the Italic Edge?

@Frank C you are the GREAT ENABLER. Thanks to Frank C, I have the Italic Edge. I'll post up about my experiences, but for now let me say that Fritz Schimpf Sundowner ink is wonderful.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

None that I posted...

Seriously, as you're finding, Italic Edge is a wonderful pen for inks.

Bottles on my ink shelves cry out “Me next!”, as they know what fun it is to show their lovely hues.

Enjoy!

We'd like to know what did not work too.  Thank you for all the work!

Here were my musings.

~ Please forgive me, but those inks which work well are highlighted.

As in other aspects of my career, all else will remain unmentioned.

I'm truly sorry to disappoint.

Other Italic Edge users will surely fill in the blanks.

For now, I'm enjoying Italic Edge as I'm housebound with my Pekingese, Diji, for several days, recovering from surgery this morning.

So sorry to hear about the surgery! May the recovery be smooth.  I am sure Diji is a comfort and support, as is exploring the capabilities of the Italic Edge.

From the photo, I would infer that you—and not Diji—had the surgery. In any event, I would wish you both a speedy recovery.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Ditto!  Get well soon, but don't stop playing with the pen!

@Tom KelliePlease do not be offended by my questions but, at some point, they need to be asked.........

1. Are being compensated by or are you receiving "considerations" of any nature from Fitz Schimpf?

2. Are you composing your own comments / impressions?  Their number, variety, creativity and excellence are "professional grade," reflecting of the kind of work expected from a marketing / advertising firm!

Again, no offense, but most who post accolades of this nature generally offer a conflict of interest disclosure.

With thanks and respect-

No, there is no compensation in any kind nor any discount from Fritz Schimpf, Montblanc, or any of the ink manufacturers.

All products are purchased at full price from Fritz Schimpf and various ink resellers.

Yours truly is a retired life sciences professor (field ecology) who has returned to work as a high school teacher due to a shortage of instructors.

Whatever is written are impromptu follies and whims which flash through my thoughts when using Italic Edge and various inks.

As far as I'm aware, there is not now, nor has there ever been any conflict of interest of any sort.

At my age there hasn't ever been anything that offends me from anyone in FPN, which is a welcoming community of pen, ink, paper, and handwriting enthusiasts.

Who is offended is my Pekingese, Diji (帝纪), because he's never compensated for his cameos in posted photos.

Sigh...a dog's life...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
