More 149

Max Dog had a post earlier about the beauty of the 149.  I’ll just add to the love by posting photos of my three 149 silver rings that I’ve planned to put up for a while. I think my oldest and newest represent the very earliest and very latest iterations of the 149 silver rings.  The earliest has the longest window, ski-slope feed, a 139 nib, 149.G imprint.  The latest is a 1959/60 with full grooves feed. It’s the only one that is ‘Meisterstuck’ though it has ‘Made in Germany’ imprinted faintly above the rings. Its snowcap is much less creamy than the other two.  It feels like something of a ‘transitional’ to the earliest 1960s resin 149.The middle-aged one is early, too, with an unusual third imprint on knob of ‘OK’.

I’ve heard about two different sizes of window for these silver rings.  You’ll see, though, that there are three distinct sizes here.
