Sheaffer Snorkel blues...

I'm sorry to re-visit a topic that's been discussed before. I've read the previous thread here, and David's article in Vaccumania, and Jim's page in PenHero, and some others, and I'm still totally confused between Pastel Blue, Peacock Blue, and Aqua.

This is my Snorkel Valiant. All these pictures are of the same pen in differrent lights and backgrounds. But it's actually the same pen! If I were to describe the pen I'd say it's a pale blue with a just a hint of green, but not full-on teal or turqoise. I would say the top two photos are the closest, although the pen is definitely less saturated in real life, and a little bit greener, than the photos show.

Can anyone tell me what colour it actually is?

This photo is about as color-accurate as you can find.  12 is Peacock, 13 is Aqua, 14 is Periwinkle.  For what it's worth, yours looks like Aqua if you say the first two photos are closer to the actual pen.

Thank you, this is useful. What is the source of that photo please? Also, where does Pastel Blue fit into the picture??

"Pastel Blue" is Aqua.  The picture is likely Brian's own.

Pastel Blue and Aqua are the same color. Sheaffer used both names at different times.  The photo is mine.  You can see the full photo with all of the colors and an accompanying article in the Summer 2022 issue of the Pennant magazine which should be hitting mailboxes in a couple months.

Summer 2022 issue of the Pennant

Thanks Brian, that helps clarify it. Alas, I'm in the UK so I will not see the Pennant article. Do you know if there is a way to obtain a digital copy? 😞

The Pen Collectors of America has many international members.  You are welcome to join if you like.  If you just want this one specific magazine, we could probably sell you a single issue.  Send me a PM
