@amberleadavisI tried to add Oster Bishop to King next to the Birmingham Stained Glass page you sent. Alas, like much in life, it did not go according to plan!  I was so excited to receive a bunch of new CRVs from you today :)large.IMG_1610.JPG.79490ecc15423ebd7ae14a76cce015ec.JPG

Well, I loved seeing it!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

HA! Well thanks to an old thread with @jodi_maloneyand others I finally figured out what CRVs are. I was happy to learn that it took some people way longer to figure it out. 😁 Of course when I first started googling the term all I got were cars.

Well, at least it's good for something! :) I have other inks in the same color family that I prefer to the mislabeled ink in the sample bottle; actually, I have many inks in that color family!

And apparently no Bishop to King to show you as a potential replacement.

Well, like you, I adore the fidget ball. I don't notice a smell on mine, but embarrassingly, I'm a mouth breather.

I got a new CRV from @amberleadavis!  :)Haven't opened it yet as I want to savor it - apparently, for her, USPS will deliver on Sundays!  It was in the box that should have been empty when I went to get the paper this morning.

I received mail from the magnificent @amberleadavis today. Yep, CRV.

OK, so once I write my part, take photos, and share them, what should happen to the CRV after that?

You can either hold onto them or mail them back to @amberleadavisI once tried the paper-washing experiment and posted picture of that- wasn't pretty!

Hooray!  I was so glad to have these for multiple reasons.  Thank you.

Very generous of you, @Bo Bo Olson!

It is hard to find a place to write because I don't have a desk in my house, but I am slowly starting to feel better.

It’s good you are starting to feel better. I’m glad for you.  I don’t technically have a desk. My Dad had a desk owned for awhile that he put a door on to make it a little taller, and wider. He was 6’6” at his tallest. That gave him a wider surface for paperwork, while still using the desk’s drawers. It is in the basement. All my pens, paper, etc are on the main level of the house.

My Dad also framed another desk at a right angle, again with a door for the top once desk top computers were a part of life. It also held the printer, modem etc.  He used file cabinets to create that workspace base.

So glad to hear it!  I sometimes "build" a desk out of some thick and large books I grab from the bookshelf!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
