CRV - Expect Delays - But Many More Inklings Ahead

As I have mentioned before, I'll be going in for HIPEC surgery on Monday.  Now, I will admit to being a tad scared, but my cancer-survivor mentor, told me that she had more jewelry to buy therefore, she could not let cancer beat her.  In that vein, I have decided I have more inks to try, pens to play with and more CRVs to write.

Therefore, I decided to give myself prior encouragement. I have written CRVs in advance and I am having my daughter send them out during the next week. So even though I won't be writing any letters or making any posts, you all know that I've been INKing of you.

Please plan on writing your CRVs and posting them up so that I can see them here on line. I expect that I'll feel well enough to look at ink, even if I'm not up to writing yet.  I'm taking all the letters I have received during the last week with me to the hospital to read as encouragement.

Thank you all for the love, prayers, thoughts, letters and encouragement.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

As you can see, I wrote out the list for my daughter. I'm adding "clean pens" to the list.  I already packaged the pens to mail out, wrote the letters, asked you all to post, and told you all that I'm taking the letters with me.

I am going to beat this!

I look forward to your triumphant return to us. 🤗

You have every reason to a tad scared and then some, but what really matters is just getting through it and coming back to draw more wild inky pictures. Good luck. Best wishes. And big hugs.

Will work for pens...

I don’t blame you for being a little scared. That’s only human. You are strong, and you will beat it.

You are a formidable woman!  I just received CRVs and yet you are busy doing more and even cleaning all your pens (and/or delegating to the family!).

May your surgery go as smoothly as your favorite pen and ink combination!

Thinking about @amberleadavis and hoping her surgery is going well today. Knowing she will be back to review inks, and being part of our great forum.

I think we're all pondering the same thing today!  Posted to her today!

I got a letter in the mail to her today as well. I put code wheels in it, thinking she and her kids would maybe enjoy them.

Sorry I didn't post before - just saw this.

When you are on the other end of this surgery and ready to start interacting with folks I will mail a CRV from the other side of the world. Message me your address!

I went through a two year period with seven major surgeries. My attitude was 'This is the work I need to do to get myself healthy and keep on living. Get it done!' I spoiled myself with one or two ice cream shakes each day of the acute recovery periods. A little thing to look forward to. (Plus I needed to gain weight during the recoveries anyway ...)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
