I was adding my list to the thread What inks are you using in 2022? and got the bottom thinking I'd add my short-list of inks to order this year. Then thought: maybe it's better as a new thread... here are mine, what are you contemplating?

 

Diamine Ash

Diamine Seize the Night

Cult Pens/Diamine Grey Skies No More

Robert Oster Bronze

KWZ Grey Lux

R&K Verdigris

A blue-grey - still looking for one that's wet enough for dry pens

Will work for pens... :unsure:

Nothing I'm contemplating ordering, but I'm always open to ordering more inks if the price is right. :)

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. I agree - this one looks gorgeous! 

 

I would like:

  • Seitz Kreuznach Navy blue (which seems to have vanished in bottle form)
  • The 03 (light) version of the small but beautiful Heironymus range
  • A bottle of SankoDo Tsurumai Blue
  • A replacement MB Diamond
  • A few from PenBBS that seem very hard to get at the moment.
  • Lots of Lennon Toolbar
  • and of course, the new Sailor Manyo dual shaders when they come out in July.

I'm sure there are lots more!

I have a huge list (much larger than the subset below) but, in the shorter term, my plans are to get the rest of the L'Artisan Pastellier inks that I want, some more PenBBS inks, the rest of the Poezie Morandi inks that are available that I don't already have, and a couple of the last Diamine Inkvent inks. All of the following are easy for me to get.

I just ordered the Wearingeul "I am a Cat" ink. Purely for the beautiful colour, you understand. I wasn't influenced by the name of the ink. Not at all.

Aren't you a wombat though? 😉

My ink wishlist this year is:

Shin-kai, a 30ml bottle of Bleu des Profondeurs once my 10 ml sample runs out, Pelikan Blau- Schwarz, and some others I haven't decided yet, for inky wishlists tend to grow with no notice at all.

I have a running list of to try, to keep testing, and to buy (eventually).

I copy to a new page every few months. This one is about ready to refresh. Rikyu-cha is likely to be replaced by shirakashi :)

I’ve looked and looked for reviews of the Alpine Blue pen and ink with no luck so far. Grrr!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

A couple of months ago, I decided to follow amberleadavis's lead, but instead of doing 365 inks in a year, I was planning to write at least one page per day with one of my existing inks - a new ink each day.  Aside from the pen cleaning, I was realizing that I really had a lot of great inks and I really didn't need to buy anymore.  Famous last words . . . 

 

Earlier this week, I just bought 22 new bottles - yes, bottles not samples -  of ink!  I think I am doomed.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
