Pilot discoloration & how to fix?

Hi everyone! When I was cleaning my pen the other day, and after a through cleaning and reinking I noticed there's a discoloration in the cap. Is there anyway of fixing this? The pen in question is a Pilot Metropolitan.

Thanks!

Can you capture what you see in a picture? Might just be ink.

I typically rinse my pen caps out each time I clean the rest of the pen. I just rinse with plain water, shake it into a paper towel (like its an old mercury thermometer) and then roll a paper tower into a cone and stuff it into the cap and twist a bit to get the last bit. I don't get obsessive with this, but its a good habit to clean your caps out once in awhile.

I can try,but I use a wet q-tip every time I clean out my pen to ensure that it has no extra trapped ink in it! And I used bottle distilled water every time.
