Very nice!  A great use for dot grid paper!

Tell me, were the designs done freehand, or did you use stuff like a circle template (especially for the bottom design)?

Thanks!  It's freehand.  I was making it up as I went along - just drawing little propeller/pinwheel shapes and didn't notice the circles until I was nearly finished!

@InkyColors I love your zen doodles!  I tend to draw flowers then wash over them, then write on the pages again.

I also have been known to send letters to strangers.  :). I have to use my ink somehow.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

As a frustrated doodler (not my forte at all) I am very impressed with your talent as well as your choice of colors.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

thanks for the inspiration for new zentangles! if you don't mind, I'm gonna start by copying you and see where it leads me...

The three in the upper part of the page were what struck me first, btw

Thank you!  I'm not really a doodler either, but felt like playing with ink today.

Have fun!  The bottom one is my pattern and you are free to copy it.  The top one I copied from  _heartpen_  on Instagram, but hers puts mine to shame!

thanks, they're both very nice. The top one is similar to one I found and adapted from a decoration on ceramics in a shop window, but your propellers are new for me. I'm going to play with both of them...

@InkyColors I find your patterns very restful and colors quite cheerful.

@InkyColors When I was sick and couldn't work, I would write letters to strangers:

I wrote individual letters on the letter request pages and I wrote more generic letters that were sent to nursing homes.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
