I was just about to despair until I read the last sentence. Phew, that was close! Anyways, your card is already on the way. :D

I've still got two more left; if anyone else wants one, just PM me.

Man, you gotta love this FP business. :D

Where do you find postcards with local scenery? I don't live in a tourist area which is where I've seen them in the past. So what kind of store would stock them?

I found some nice local postcards at Barnes & Noble - they are in a different section from the "artsy" or vintage repro postcards...

Hooray!

I'm so glad the mail situation worked out for you!

All right, you people are having too much fun. So I suppose I will have to add post cards and postage to my list of things my wife thinks I am loony about. Does give me an excuse to take my Pelikans out for a walk, though.

Hi, notts86. I would love to have one from Canterbury, being as how my PWR (Patient Wife Rose) and I are Anglican. Think the Archbishop wants to get in on this? He must have a fountain pen somewhere! I can send you one from Kansas City, MO in return.

Everyone who asked for a postcard: they went out today!

Someone asked where to get good postcards...well, I printed my own. So, if ya'll don't like the pic., then blame the photographer!

Alright! Who's next? :D

The idea of printing your own pictures for postcards is not bad, not bad at all. :)

"Printing your own postcards" - I've wondered, and asked, about this before. Someone said the postal size requirements are something like 4 x 6 1/2. The standard print you get from the photo shop, or where ever you get yours printed, are 4x6! Or even if you have your own photo printer, you can buy standard packages of that size photo paper. Imagine that!

Why, then, can't I just turn one over, write my message on the left hand side, and address on the right?

The only thing I am not sure of is how well the back side of photo paper receives, and maintains, fountain pen ink. Am I to be relegated to a bellpoint? Egads! Wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose? I'll have to try, and see what I come up with. If any of you already know, please, enlighten the rest of us.

I used PhotoPOSTOS. You stick them on the back of your photos like this:

The process isn't all that easy, and if you give it a try, I'd allow destroying a couple of photos before getting the hang of things.

Today I mailed cards to the following:

philm

KG4KAH

halljer

elena

Tweel

(Earlier in the week I mailed cards to these:

playpen

amh210

Superbus

Functionslust

nluoma

artaddict

Phthalo

ashaw

HDoug

Margana

Wizergig)

Today I received the 90 cent and 69 cents stamps I ordered so I'll start working on cards for the rest of you in the U.S. as well as those in Canada and across the pond. As some of you may know, my right hand is out of commission when it comes to grasping small items like pens (severe arthritis pain). About three months ago I started writing with my left hand. It's legible, but slow. Even so, I'm having fun! :D

Over the last few days I have mailed out cards to the following:

CasmiUK

Funktionslust

HDoug

JudyBug

Margana

Playpen

It takes about 10 days (sometimes a little longer) for mail to go in and out of AU, so it will take awhile, but they'll get here / there in the end!

If anyone else would like postcards from Queensland, Australia - drop me a PM. :)

Wow - I have never seen those PhotoPostos before! How brilliant! I'll have to order some (from the US, by the looks of it...), but if I make anything worthwhile out of them, some of you may receive a second postcard from me in a few weeks or so - one that actually shows a pretty photo of my town!

Well, I confess...what I did was take a photo that I took a couple of years ago and print it on some photo paper I had laying around. I decided that it wasn't rigid enough, so I glued some card stock onto the back. It will be interesting to hear what kind of shape they are in when they arrive at their destinations. Right now I've only sent out to the CONUS. Anyone else want one of these bad boys?

Celeste - This is what I did, too. I have a Xyron machine that puts permanent adhesive on whatever you run through it. It looks like it sticks to the photos pretty well, but - as you said - it will be interesting to see how the postcards look when they arrive at their destinations. Actually though, putting a backing is probably unnecessary. I received a lovely unbacked photo in the mail, and it's none the worse for its journey.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
