Rice and 50% Rice and Bamboo papers?

Found some "reasonably" priced (if I cut it into normal size sheets) of Rice & Rice/Bamboo paper at the big river site. (Don't know if I can mention them by name.)

Good for brush calligraphy. I don't have, and don't want to have to buy any Calligraphy brushes. My budget can't take the hit.

Would it be good for fountain pen use, for mundane things like writing a letter? I can't find anything online if this paper is compatible with fountain pens.

Should I just get some cotton/linen paper?

Thanks in advance.

The brush calligraphy papers I purchased at my local store in Chinatown haven't been as good for fountain pens.  I'll try and see if I can test them.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

My impressions from researching rice papers for Sumi painting and the like is that they aren't as a whole particularly fountain pen friendly, because they often have long and rough paper fibers and can be quite absorbent, leading to very intense ink absorption and potential feathering and high spread. However, I imagine that could also create an effect that you might quite like (though probably not). If you want an inexpensive paper that you can be more confident in, you might try something else, but if it's not a bad price, then it could be a fun paper to play with, though you might want to stick with a small sample first.

So, this is the paper I bought at the our China Town area in a store that had it hidden away. The brand is "Monet" but I can't find it online.  Here are some images.

The first image is Birmingham Tesla Coil, the second (I don't remember), the red one is Diamine Noel and the last one is in the smallest of my nibs a Pelikano M with KWZI orange.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
